Shipley Manor seemed nice, but there was nothing about it that stood out one way or the other. They showed me a studio room for assisted living. It was nice but it seemed small. They showed me the dining room and it looked very nice. The whole building itself seemed to be in good shape.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. They are under staffed and they do things the way they want to which is not necessarily right for the patient. The nurses only take blood pressures and give out meds which a lot of the times not the right ones. The aids do all the work but there are not enough of them. Patients have been left sitting for hours on the side of the bed for hours with no one checking on them. The patients are belittled and I think the aids are too! The communication is very poor all around. Someone decided that my relative was too tired to eat dinner so no dinner was ordered for her. Please do not use this facility

My friend transferred from the nursing home of Shipley Manor to the assisted living part in a room with a nice bathroom. The assisted living unit was very small. She still goes back to the skilled nursing part for her OT and PT. The dining area is in a totally different corridor with four tables of four people each. They have a living room with a TV. Basically, the residents just stay in their own rooms. They have outside people come in to play the guitar, talk, or provide some entertainment for the residents.

I got a list of assisted living facilities from Caring.com and Shipley Manor was one of them. I visited this place. The room was fine. They did have recreational activities for their residents. I would give it a fairly high rating based on my visit.
Beware_please
Visit several times and at different times of the day. The facility is often short of staff, is focused primarily on cost saving (for them not you). If you aren't going to visit your loved one everyday...this is not the place for them.

My Great Grandmother was constantly ignored. They were consistantly late bringing meals, sometimes she would eat at nine at night, which is unacceptable with her medication. They would take the residents on trips and expect them to walk around at a normal pace. My great grandmother walked with a walker and needed four steps for every one step of a normal person. The staff was rude, unfriendly and downright mean. I would never reccomend this facility to anyone EVER! It had to be the most demeaning place on the planet, and if I had any control over where she was I would have removed her from the facility immediately. I feel she would have lived a lot longer if she was treated like a human being, and not a dog!
