I went to Seabury at Friendship Terrace. They were very friendly. I got the information about them from my coworkers and at the church. It was very highly recommended and so I went there. The staff was friendly. Everybody was very eager to help me out. They showed me all the places. I liked the room that they showed me. Unfortunately, I could not make it because I was 61 at that time. I'm not 62, but I loved the place. It had a lot of senior activities. They told me that once I'm 62, which is going to be September, I can apply. I liked the fact that they had spiritual meetings and activities and they had activities that I could join like exercise. It's near the metro, and it was clean, very comfy, and very homey, especially the living room.

The Seabury at Friendship Terrace was a nice facility but they just had an efficiency available when we visited. They didn't have a lot of 1-bedroom apartment units there. Everything looks really good though and the people were very friendly, even the residents were very friendly. It was just a little too small for my father's living conditions so everything he has wouldn't possibly fit in there. Everybody was just very welcoming, very warm, and the community has a welcoming atmosphere. That was nice but it wouldn't be a good fit for him. The one-room that we visited was very clean and very neat. It was very organized and nice. They had a list of the type of activities that they had and they showed us an activity room where they have different things in. I think they were just really getting back to doing more activities because of the pandemic. They just really got back into the swing of things, but we didn't see anybody actively engaged in any activity. They had sent me something in the mail and I saw what the menu looked like from that. It looked like it was a good, nutritious, planned diet that they have for the residents but we didn't get to taste anything.

Seabury at Friendship Terrace takes good care of its residents, including my mother. This retirement home was one of the first communities in the DC area to have an onsite clinic for the covid vaccine (2nd week of January, 2021). And by March, 90% of residents and staff were fully vaccinated. This must have taken great foresight and planning. Staff members are helpful and friendly. The rooms are small. The staff is friendly but overwhelmed and ineffectual. The activities advertised are not what you actually get. There was supposed to be regular bus service to the store, but if not enough people show up they just cancel leaving residents without an option. There have been two bedbug infestations and other problems. The management says it will talk to you, but then they never follow through. Very disappointing. Also prices keep going up while services seem to be going down.

Friendship Terrace was very nice. It’s in Washington in a good neighborhood. The staff all seemed very nice.

This facility does not treat residents with dignity and respect. At the front desk, the 24 hour help is often absent or asleep at night. Management forces residents to pay for a mandatory meal plan and make it impossible to get an exemption from it. The food is terrible, cold and devoid of nutrition. The portions are very small and residents are losing weight. The dining linens are washed in the basement laundry room where the residents (many of whom are incontinent) do their laundry. The machines are not clean. Residents smoke even though it is not allowed. The administrator Eileen ignores complaints, doesn't return phone calls, talks behind residents backs, is sarcastic and abuses her position of authority. She should be held accountable but will not even reveal who her supervisor is when asked. This facility was much more compassionate when managed by the Episcopal church across the street. Now, a big corporation called Seabury is in charge and they are only looking for ways to make financial profits. The residents are kept in the dark. They don't know who is on the corporate board. They are beaten down by the management. It is sad because most of the residents are to frail to defend themselves. There are also roaches and bedbugs. Don't move in here unless you have a good lawyer to protect you from potential elder abuse.

The Seabury at Friendship Terrace was an alright facility for what it was. The building was slightly outdated, but the staff was friendly and helpful. The amenities were was you got with an old building, but they had a few rooms for larger groups of people. There was a bird in one of the main rooms that seemed to make a lot of people happy.

This facility is operated in conjunction with the Episcopal church ministry for the aging. It is currently undergoing rennovation. It is in a great location but was definitely in need of updating. One nice feature is that most of the units have private balconies so you can get some fresh air. This is an attractive assisted living operation that is very accessible price wise at a time when we see so many expensive options coming on the market.
