Sadly I must report the substandard care. Even prior to the pandemic care was poor, only to become worse this last year. My friend is left in soiled diapers for hours, personnel items disrespected by staff. I myself have been told to not bring outside food in as it makes the food served appear worse that is already is. Take out's I have provided have disappeared when asked for by the resident, yet I have found them a week later in the refrigerator and resident kitchenette. Staff simply never looked. Dietary does not follow resident preferences or allergies, trays are regularly incomplete. I observed a dirty comb in the drinking fountain by the nurses station for 3 weeks, nevr removed, never cleaned, always in the same spot and orientation giving away that it was never touched in any way. Administrative staff is either non responsive or deflecting when asked or commented too. Aids not only do the heavy work they are taxed beyond comprehension. Cares they have brought to the table also go without heed. They do speak to residents and visitors alike. The care staff turn over is high. Those with empathy leave. The use of the pandemic as excuse is wrong as those who have witnessed the year prior know.

My father in law was at Madison House for 3 weeks and had a wonderful experience. His rehabilitation was great as was the staff, food and accommodations. He has stayed at other facilities but I would recommend Madison House over them.

The people at Madison House are professional. The medical care is excellent. They have a very consistent staff. They seem to have a very grounded caring design. They are superlative on all sides - administrative, social, support, emotional support, care of the family and the patient.

Sadly, the Madison House once had a great reputation until it was bought out by a large corporation. A client of mine stayed here recently and the care was not very good and required constant monitoring from myself and one of her adult children. If you or your loved one is looking for a place for short-term rehab or long-term care, I'd investigate other shoreline options before using the Madison House. I would not recommend this facility.
