Hoffman SummerWood generates a lot of people of the Jewish faith. It is basically built by Jewish people, so the food is kosher, and the majority of their residents are Jewish. There is nothing wrong with that, but I didn't think my parents would acclimate to that type of environment. It was clean and beautiful, but it wasn't what my mom and dad would need. The staff was excellent. The individual that showed us around was great. She answered a lot of questions. At the end, she actually had the chef prepare three meals for me to bring back for my mom and dad. It was a salmon salad, which was just very lovely.
It was absolutely beautiful. However, it would have been nice if the grounds were kept up a little bit more. There were patio chairs tipped over, and it could have been because it was raining the night before, but other than that, it was absolutely gorgeous, it just wasn't what my parents would probably feel comfortable in. The rooms were beautiful, but I was looking for a place that had a patio. I was a little discouraged that they didn't have that because that's like a big piece of what would probably sell my mom, the opportunity for her to break out of her room and have a space of her own and not necessarily to have to walk through the whole facility to go out into the courtyard.

A kosher cuisine was a must for my mom when I moved her up from Florida to be close to me, so I was very relieved to find that the only kosher facility in the area was also one of the most beautiful. My mom has been living at SummerWood for close to 12 years now! She has been very happy here and she is well taken care of. She is kept engaged continually with interesting activities and has many friends. SummerWood truly was the ideal solution for our family.

Both my parents were residents of Summerwood. As their oldest child I felt it was my responsibility to ensure they were in a clean and safe environment. Summerwood offered that but so much more. From the delicious meals served in a lovely dining room, to the in-house events, parties, entertainment and activities as well as the trips offered off the property, they could do as much or as little as they wanted. The apartments are lovely and brand-new looking. Mom and Dad's was kept very clean. On one occasion I was notified by the staff nurse that my Dad was ill and they handled getting him to the hospital. It was comforting to know that both Mom and Dad were always being looked after and I didn't have to worry. The staff was a pleasure to work and they went above and beyond to ensure Mom and Dad were content and happy. My parents also found the staff to be very caring and fun. I highly recommend Summerwood for your loved ones (or yourself!).

We did not care for Hoffman Summerwood. It was awfully quiet and kind of empty. I also did not care for the staff. They did not interact nicely with the residents.
