My wife was in rehab at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Norwalk. It was nice. It was a former junior high school that had been converted into a nursing home and rehabilitation. It was fairly large and had nice landscaping and plenty of facilities, restrooms, dining rooms, and things like that. They seem to be, from time to time, short-staffed because everybody is short-staffed in the United States during this COVID era, but they were very caring. My wife got to be close with some of the staff members and they give you good attention. They have very good rehabilitation, physical therapy, and that kind of stuff in-house and it's excellent. She was there for 100 days. There's quite a variety of food. Just about anything is available and it was very good. I ate the food sometimes when they offered. They had several dining areas and it was like you would imagine a grade school dining room would look like. It's a three-story facility, and they had several different dining rooms in different shapes. It had chairs and a big dining table and refrigerator. They were quite nice. Her room was kind of small. It was a room for a single person, but it had an attached bathroom and a nice television set. It's a little short on storage. They had lots of activities. They had a daily newsletter that they sent out. They have musicians in there quite frequently that will walk around and play. Sometimes in the dining rooms, they set up games for people like bingo, card games, and things like that. The facility was very nice and they were meticulous about keeping it clean. There was always a cleaning crew going around. They did a good job of keeping the bathrooms clean. They had a fitness room and they do physical therapy in there, too, but some people use it just for fitness. Value for money was good. The 100 days were paid for by Medicare, so it didn't cost us anything. It looks like if we stayed there, it gets to be fairly expensive and I don't know if it's a good value or not, but the care that she needed was more intense and they were very good at that.

My wife is at Autumn Lake. The care seems good but their communication is really bad. Particularly given this condition of the pandemic, the communication is not what it ought to be. The people seem very good but somewhat overworked. They are not all perfect, but they're certainly very good. They have occupational therapy and they have a gym onsite, but beyond that I don't know about their activities. It's a 3-story apartment block, and it is in reasonably good condition and fairly well maintained. I would not say it's great value for money. It's in a quiet neighborhood so it is quite a nice location and it's certainly convenient for anyone who lives in Norwalk.

We visited Aurora Senior Living for my mother. They have positive professional people. I saw the open areas, and they seemed to be in good shape. They gave me a sheet of activities. The facility was secure.
