My mother-in-law is in Atria Darien. They've got palliative care coming in to care for her now, so we're just gonna leave her there. It's like a five-star hotel. It is a beautiful senior facility. It is not for the memory impaired. Most people there just need a little assistance. Some of them have their own cars, so it's just senior living, but it's very beautifully kept and it's clean. The people are very, very nice. The one big drawback is it's extremely expensive. She has a 24-hour aide, but a lot of them don't have aides at all. There's no lockdown or anything like that. You're free to come and go. She has a double room with two full bathrooms because she is very, very competent mentally and she wanted to have an office. They have a studio and a room and a half. They have different options. There are two libraries, a wonderful hair salon, and two dining rooms. There's a chef who's been there for over 24 years, and the food is very good. There are several courtyards for the residents to go out and enjoy. The rooms are comparable to others in the area, price-wise. When you add the assistance, then it becomes extremely expensive.

Atria Darien is really beautiful. It looks brand new and it's very spacious. They have a gym, a mahjong room, a pub where you can go and get an alcoholic beverages, a physical therapy room, a movie room, and a library. It's all very beautiful. They have a lot of activities. They sent me home with two cheesecakes and they were pretty good. I never saw the grounds. I looked out the window, but when you pull up to the main building you're not seeing anything except the parking lot and the building. The staff was very nice. I met the head nurse and I met the woman who handles all the activities, and she was delightful. I wasn't crazy about the sales manager. She was doing a really hard sell, which always makes me uncomfortable. Other than that, the people that I met seemed to be very outgoing, friendly, and upbeat. The residents said hello. They'd pass you in the hallway and they'd say hi and how are you, so that was encouraging. The way the building was constructed was almost like an indoor walking trail. I think it must have been raining that day or something, because there were a lot of people walking through the halls and friendly and happy. Unlike the other place, which has 24-hour nursing staff, Atria Darien does not. They have one nurse as far as I could tell, and she goes off duty at 7:00 or 9:00 at night. After that, if you have a medical need, there's a certified nursing assistant, so they're not nurses. I felt that I needed more medical care than they could provide. The place looks like a spa, and I think most of the people who are there in recovery are there because they had a knee replacement or they broke their leg. With me, I'm going to have a four-inch scar down my spine from my back surgery, and if that wound opens up, and all I have is a CNA, trying to smack a Band-Aid on my back is not going to cut it, so I had to eliminate them.

Atria Darien is a wonderful home for my mother. The staff is always helpful with any concern my mother may have. All the activities keep her busy and involved with life. The social interaction is rewarding. The apartments, social rooms, exercise studio and dining room are all top notch.

My mother in law has been a resident at Atria since January. We moved her from another senior living facility as she was not getting enough stimulation. The staff at Atria has been wonderful, ensuring a smooth transition. The facilities are immaculate. More activities are being introduced on a weekly basis. It has been a great move.

My mom has been a resident of Atria Darien for 5 years. She was quite independent when she arrived and availed herself of the many activities such as, lectures, movies, fitness, etc. She enjoyed the programs, made many friends and loved the atmosphere of the facility. She has a beautiful room and feels at home at Atria. Now, she requires aide and medication support. The staff have been consistently accommodating, helpful and lovely in addressing my mom's needs. I know that she is getting good care in a wonderful environment.

I recently moved to Atria Darien and could not be happier. From the moment I came for my first tour, I knew I wanted to live here. The management team made my move and transition here so easy - I could not believe how smoothly it all went. The entire staff at Atria Darien has been so warm and they genuinely care. I feel right at home and the residents have all been welcoming. I enjoy the multitude of programming offered. I have made lovely friends since moving here. The food is wonderful! I highly recommend this community!

I like the people in Atria. It is very important to me to be surrounded by people that I have something in common with, and everybody is very friendly and I fit in. The one-bedroom seems adequate with a lot of closets, so it was a little bit better than some of the others I have seen. I am from Darien originally, so the location is perfect. They have everything, like lectures and outside interests. The pricing is comfortable.

Everything was top notch at Atria. The only issue was understanding the level of care that’s needed, and how much that really cost. That was a not as transparent as the other communities. This was also the most expensive of the communities we saw, but it was the nicest facility.

I visited Atria Darien. They were doing some construction, but I didn't think it was possible it could be nicer. I thought it looked big and new. The other the staff was nice. The people seemed engaged. The food looked delicious.

The staff has always been very lovely at Atria Darien. They told me enough information. There was a small group of people listening to a lecture. They have their program printed on a big wall. Every room is very beautiful, but I find the atmosphere too cold for me.

We had a very lovely lunch at Atria. The food was excellent. They were more expensive than the rest of them. The rooms were very clean, but they were smaller than the other two places that we had seen. The staff was excellent. The dining room was so bright and so cheery. The wait staff there was so nice and very patient with all the people coming in and answering all their questions. The social area was much bigger and very wide open, and on each floor, they had areas where you could come right out of your room and sit right there and do a puzzle.
