My mother moved into The Homestead at Montrose. The place is great. It has great food, and she got a big room, which is a studio. They have a 1-bedroom as well. Her room is beautiful and clean. The whole place is really nice, and the staff is really helpful. Everything is great. She's got a little kitchenette, a sink, fridge, and a microwave, but no stove. It's good. I know the food is really good because when we were moving her in there, I had a taste of her food. It's wonderful. We met with the administrator, the head nurse, and her assistant. They kind of evaluated mom first, made sure she qualifies for assisted living which she does, and they kind of went into the rules. There's a pet policy, she doesn't have pets, but it was easy and painless. It took a couple of hours because we went up to the room and they showed us and let us in, so we could move her furniture in and it was smooth. They have a whole activities department. Some of the activities have been downsized because of Covid, but they have bingo, church service in the chapel, and they had a nice Easter service, which is kind of nondenominational. They have a room where they have to sit spaced out, but they can watch TV together or sit around and talk, and it's like a lounge area. The wifi and the landline are included in the price. The staff is always great to me and mom's always raving about how good the food is. The facility is very clean, very organized, very beautiful inside, and well done.

My dad was at The Homestead at Montrose. I loved it because it was on the smaller scale. You get a sense of family from the minute you walk in. They had awesome staff, too. It was very warm and welcoming. They even had the memory ward upstairs for people to transition to. The food was awesome. They had a salad bar and fruits or vegetable salad every day. I ate with my dad a lot and did a lot of the activities with him, and it was awesome. They had bingo, and arts and crafts but that wasn't my dad's thing. They also had outdoor games, which was fun. He enjoyed that. The music that came in was phenomenal, too.

We're moving grandma to Homestead in June. She stayed there for a week for respite. It was awesome, it was really good, and I was totally impressed. The staff did an amazing job, she was very comfortable, and the care workers were great with her. If you're on assisted living, you have your own apartment, and once we move her up, she has her own room. It's like a dorm room that's smaller, nice, and right there where the nurses can see her all the time.

We chose Homestead at Montrose for my mother because my daughter actually works there. She works for Volunteer of America. Homestead is a good and clean place. In terms of care they offer, it's all in one but my mother is in their assisted living facility because her eyesight is severely impaired. Her room there is pretty new. They even put new carpeting for her. She has a living room, a bedroom and a kitchen, but there's no stove in the kitchen, which I think is typical. Her room is very comfortable. The HVAC works good and all that. The staff seems to be very professional and caring. So far, the experience has been good. For activities, everyday they have something going on for the people. They have like bingo, games, etc. They have volunteer musicians and singers that would come in. So their activities are pretty good. I notice that my mother has a pretty active social life there even though her vision is severely impaired, so that's good. The food is not too good. We told them about that, but so far there hasn't been any notable improvement.
