DO NOT EVER LET YOUR LOVED ONE GO HERE. We had the scariest experience. My dad was placed in this rehab after he fell and broke his ankle. The first three days he wasn’t given any pain medicine for his ankle. My sister tried to drop off a bag of clothes and personal mail to him. The extremely rude older lady that works the front desk started going through his bag right in front of her without her permission and said the stuff couldn’t go right to my dad it had to be washed first. A few days later we get a call that my father fell while the PT was in the room. He didn’t have a belt on like he was supposed to. They know he is a high fall risk. After a week of being in there they took him to a outside orthopedic doctor to look at his foot. He had a huge hematoma on his foot the size of a softball. The nurse at the rehab even admitted they wrapped his foot to tight for to long and it caused that. A few days after his appointment he started acting confused and was declining fast. They sent him to the ER and he had an infection in the tissue in his foot where the wound was and a small UTI. My sister and I are both his power of attorney and have the notarized paperwork and they refused to talk to my sister. He was sent back to rehab. The rehab refused to send him to the ER with his glasses and his hearing aids. The next day we started getting calls from my dad that he waited three hours for them to help him to the bathroom. I called the nurses station right away and the phone just rang. Nobody answered after waiting 15 minutes. My dad called us many times telling us how scared he was and said nobody would answer him and they would just close his door. My dad has been in rehab before and I have never heard him so scared. We called the case worker from the home health company right away and asked for a transfer. They worked as fast as they could to get him out of there fast. She said that we are allowed to do a compassion check to see my dad because he mentally was not doing ok. I showed up to the rehab asking for a compassion check and they refused me. I understand that they have covid protocols but it was an emergency. The same front desk lady was very rude about not having a covid test in the last three days. She said she would call the director. The director came up front and assured me this is normal behavior for patients to ask scared and feel lonely in a rehab place. I felt very dismissed. We were able to talk to the nurses about what was going on but still felt something was wrong and waited for the transfer. A few hours passed and we got the approval to pick him up and bring him to the new rehab. When we arrived they were supposed to have him ready and we still had to wait an half an hour. After they were so rude to us about covid like we were infected a nurse wearing a life care center of aurora zip up hoodie comes up with no mask! This place is so unprofessional and mistreats their patients. I feel bad for patients that are older and don’t have family there to advocate for them. This place should not be allow to be open. Please don’t send your family here.
