We moved our parents into Applewood Place. They're very understaffed, and they don't have skilled nursing. They've got memory care and assisted living, and their staff is very friendly and willing to help. It's just that you press the call button and it takes them a lot longer to respond than you would think it should. They've got a theater room you can schedule with your friends who live there, or family who come to visit and watch a movie in the theater room.
They've got art projects going on. On their display monitors and a couple of the rooms, they've got games going, competing with each other to kind of keep your mind involved. They offer physical therapy, they take you to your doctors' appointments, they have med techs who will keep track of your medications and give them to you, and they have two people to assist for people that need that.
The sales office has a spare wheelchair. We didn't get a wheelchair from the place that issued a prescription for one, so my mom has been using that. They have a dining room, and the food seems good. It's not great, but then I don't think any of these places have great food. The food smelled OK though. Value for money is average, about what the other places I've looked at charge, maybe a little less money. They leased my parents a two-bedroom unit for the cost of a one-bedroom.

My sister found Applewood Place Assisted Living and we thought it was really lovely. My mom lives there now and it has been going great. She is happy. I have been over there every day in the evening and it is going really well. They are very good to her. We are really pleased so far. The people are extremely nice and it is very clean. I feel like they are concerned about my mom's needs. Anything that we asked for or mentioned, they are right there. It has been a very positive experience. My mom really likes it. She is super picky and she does not eat very much. A couple of times she did not like what they gave her, so they got her something she did like. I asked them to bring something else and they did that. For activities, they have bingo; however my mom has dementia, so she is a little different than most people. She is happy though and she thinks it is a beautiful place. It is very nice and the people are nice. She has got a beautiful apartment and I think it has been great. We are pleased with everything right now. She is in assisted living, but we are keeping an eye on memory care. If ever she needs to be moved to memory care, we are going to do it; but for now, we are starting with assisted living.

Mom is in the memory care area of Atria Park of Applewood. Overall, it is OK, but the staff changes all the time. The residents should be able to order off the menu, but on that particular floor, they just bring whatever the specials are. Their care is OK, but some caregivers are way better than others. They clean Mom's room once a week and it's pretty good. They do games, watch TV, play Bingo, and they go on scenic drives.

Atria Park was very nice. There wasn’t anything detracting from the place; it was just a little farther than some of the others we looked at. The staff person was very helpful in the things that we should look for. It was a little harder for us to get there, and that was the only thing that kind of steered us away from there. Their entertainment area was very nice. They had a large screen TV, nice seating, and so forth.

I didn't like Atria Park of Applewood. They need to improve the food. The service was reasonable.
Mom's Place
Mom is already in Atria Applewood, and she seems to be happy there. It is a new facility. It is only a year old. They have three meals a day, plus snacks. They have a movie room, a pool room, craft room, and a beautiful little gymnasium there. They have all kinds of things to do. The neighborhood is upscale. It is expensive, but it is top-notch. I will recommend it.

Atria applewood is a beautiful place! I would like to live there myself. Except, if you have any addictions , they will NOT help you or your loved one. Beware! They are more interested in your money and if they could get sued! Sales people could sell you a used car if they were selling one. LOOKS like a 5 star hotel. But look under the skin...

We've had a few issues with Atria Applewood, but overall they're pretty good. My mother has a studio, and it is very clean. The food is very good. They do exercise classes, and they take them on outings.

We are moving my mother to Atria Applewood. We chose this community because she has her own apartment, and she gets each level of care. As her dementia continues to progress, she can stay in the same facility and just go to a different floor, all the way to the final stage of Alzheimer's. Regarding the staff, the contact that we had with them as we visited was outstanding. The person who showed us around was fantastic. The staff is decorating my mother's apartment right now; we are actually moving her in tomorrow morning. They have an on-staff chef, so it is not just a mess hall cook. The food is fresh, and they have a feature meal. They're good quality food.

I visited Atria Applewood and it was very clean and nice. I looked at the rooms and it was nice, but it was small. My mom is the one who needs to decide which place she wants to stay in. I think the place would be good for her, but she is not convinced yet. We ate lunch there and the food was delicious.

This is a very attractive facility. It is also extremely expensive. For the 5,358.00 my Mother In Law is paying she receives:
Good meals, which she has to wait in the dining room up to an hour before she is served. She receives a room which has a bed placed directly next to the front door, which is never made. Instead of making the bed, the caregivers simply throw the covers up over the pillows. Most seniors I know appreciate a well made bed, and one which is made before 2 pm. I do not feel she is being cared for, only looked after. There is a bright spot. His name is Pete and he seems to truly care for all residents. I have been over this many times with the director and numerous other facility employees. All have acknowledged the problems, none have bothered to fix them.

I did not spend as much time here as I had wanted to but from what I could tell at my younger age it seemed like a comfortable place with friendly people. It had helpful staff and it seemed like an area where people were able to live a relaxing and joyful life without too much strain on themselves. The amenities and facilities seemed to be very suitable to the residents from what I understand.
