Border Collie Mom
My dear friend lives at Manor Care. Recently, I sent her a kindle for a little entertainment. She is not very technical and some adjustments needed to be made in her room to make it more technology friendly. Jason, in facilities, was so helpful in getting her room organized and then letting me know what he and my friend had done. Laura in activities has spent special learning sessions with my friend that I have phoned into to help her get more familiar with her kindle. I've been able to chat with each of these very kind, competent and professional people as we've organized things for my friend. It's been so helpful to be able to have such support as I live hundreds of miles away. Thank you Manor Care for having such outstanding staff!!!

HCR ManorCare Health Services is good. The staff and services are good. The dining area is organized and clean. My mom is not doing a lot of activities right now but they have bible studies, exercise classes, and bingo. The place is clean and very active. The cost is ridiculous though.

Administration is not consistent with what they say and do and the staff suffers from sufficient coverage, due to a lack of staff. Nurses, CNA's, kitchen, and housekeeping are pushed to work as quickly and as long as they can to cover for staff shortages. Staff isn't covered for breaks; which means if your nurse or CNA are off the floor for a break you and everyone under their care must wait until they return in order to have any needs addressed. Some of the staff member will work through their break. However, many staff members will often still claim that they actually took a break even when you know they haven't. the Staff would rather say they took a break rather than face any reprisal from administration. Low morale, exhausted, overworked, and unappreciated staff...poor staffing and thoughtless administration

The many questions we had before choosing Manor Care were answered to our satisfaction by Carla.. During my stay I found the entire staff to be very attentiave and always pleasant to the patients and other staff members. I did have a concern and wrote it on the form they provide. It was addressed by staff and resolved the next morning. . Manor Care is a facility I would be comfortable staying at again and will recommend to others..

My wife, Carol was in the Boulder, CO facility for rehab, from August 22, 2016, until August 31, 2016. She had excellent czre there and there are some people that she would like to recognize for their attention to her. Robert and Whitney, who are both Physical Therapists, Diane, who is an RN and Susan and Irena who I believe are both CNA's.. And the bright spot when I walked in the door was Pam, the receptionist. She hekped me find what I needed and helped me with a couple of problems.

This is THE WORST care facility ever. They do not deserve the one-star rating I gave them; minus 5 stars would be a more appropriate rating. They advertise as a rehab-equipped nursing facility, so I brought my father here for short-term rehab after a surgery.
They did not have the previously-arranged private room ready for him and tried to put him in a room with an elderly nursing home patient (my dad is young and had requested a private room). The room they finally got him into had a non-working nurse call light (which was inoperable for over 24 hours), a non-working television (we had to bring him one). The night nurse did not check in with him while his call light was broken (even though she knew it was broken) so he did not get his pain meds for hours, until I arrived.
When the call light did get fixed, we timed how long it took for the nurses to answer the call and then for them to bring the requested meds. From the time he pressed the call light, it took the nurse 20 minutes to come to the room, and then an additional 35 minutes to bring the requested medication.
Furthermore, he was provided a broken wheelchair NO toilet riser was available upon request (I had to go borrow one from a senior center). They do NOT have the necessary equipment for a facility that is supposed to specialize in rehab.
Some of nurses are lovely, caring, and capable (especially Lisa, the RN supervisor), but most of the workers here (nurses, some of the CNAs, doctors, and social services workers) are completely incompetent. The doctors are NOT available on the weekends. Most of the nurses are rude (esp Andrea the RN supervisor in the long-term care wing). Good luck trying to get discharged. We started requesting a discharge 36 hours in advance of even being considered.
They are SUPER disorganized. I was not the only person with a complaint during my father's short stay; there were many people at the nurses station constantly with complaints and grievances. Phone calls and patients requests are ignored and
Very, very unfortunate given that they are a "care" facility. Save yourself a huge headache and do not send your loved ones here. There are much better equipped care/rehab/nursing facilities in the Denver Metro area.

Mom was in ManorCare before she went to Wynwood. We've seen that and it's a relatively new facility. As a nursing home, it's pretty good. The people that I associated with there were pretty good.

ManorCare in Boulder, Colorado is situated on the edge of town near a nature trail. It is a peaceful area that offers the more mobile residents and staff a chance to get outside and enjoy the fresh mountain air. The entryway of the facility houses a lovely bird aviary full of songbirds who seem to truly enjoy their little nests. Near the aviary is a formal dining room that residents can utilize when larger groups of friends and family come for a visit. It would be quite suitable for a birthday party or a holiday gathering. One day when I entered the facility, the front receptionist was baking chocolate chip cookies, which created a nice homelike atmosphere for the residents. Amenities available for the residents include an onsite salon and televisions and phones in each room. There are shared rooms as well as private rooms. The facility can house people who are there for short-term rehab, as well as permanent residents. The staff is efficient, but a little young. One may hear a staff person talking a bit too indiscreetly on a cell phone while walking down a hallway. If a resident has an urgent request, someone will look into it, but it may take some extra time and staff may not give straightforward answers until checking with their supervisors. My mother's room had a broken air conditioner that was never fixed during the summer, and the staff's solution was to open a window. They said they had contacted maintenance, but since the situation was never resolved, they may be short-staffed in that area. It was also surprising that they did not have a fan available for rooms with broken air conditioning, so be prepared to provide your own solutions for inconveniences in some cases.
