My dad moved to The Villas at Sunny Acres, and our overall experience so far has been good. Everything seems fine, and my dads room is like a small apartment. The dining area looks like a restaurant. Sometimes he likes the food and sometimes he doesnt. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have amenities like a salon, a library, and so on. They also have different activities like excursions and things like that. I havent really had any problems with them so far, and my dad seems to like the community.

What a shame that this facility can not hire a snow plow employee to clear access into and out of the facility with an incline leaving. It took me several attempts stuck in snow leaving the facility. At 5:45 am on a challenging snow fall morning is quite irritating.

I visited The Villas; it was a huge place, but the assisted living wasn't as great, and I wasn't overly impressed. It didn't look quite as nice a facility, and it was more expensive. I did know a resident, and they liked it. The person who gave the tour was good.
Protective relative of Sunny Acres resident (who is my hero)

My grandmother has lived at Sunny Acres for about 15 years. She is type 1 diabetic since her teens, and presently is 98 years old and counting! In her 80s and there at Sunny Acres, she met a wonderful man with whom she fell in love, despite thinking that it couldn't happen again at her age, or after such a long and happy marriage to my grandfather who had passed away not long before she moved to Sunny Acres. She was young again! :) I have visited her a number of times there, and always I was pleased not only with the conditions she was living in, but also the staff. They clearly knew her well... not just her name and fact, but they really knew her personality and they seemed to honestly appreciate having her there. Granny has been happy with her care there, and I can't say how much it meant to me to see them treat her with love.
I felt like they treated her the way they would treat their own grandparent. And in a way, it almost seemed like they considered her family. Granny always had plenty to do there, gardening, getting her hair done, playing games, writing for the community newsletter, and even working out with a personal trainer (in her 80s she said she was working on her abs!) I love it! She truly found a positive community; everyone we encountered there was kind, cheerful and someone whom we were happy to see my grandmother around. I only wish that every facility was like this, and that there will be one like this for me and/or my husband if ever there comes a time for us to need additional help. I won't pretend that life has been perfect for her since being there, but for whom is life ever perfect? These are good people who genuinely care about the wellbeing of their residents, and the fact that my widowed diabetic grandmother has not only done well but actually thrived there for several years, is a real testament to the positive influence this facility and the care team creates. I am so grateful that my grandmother, my hero, is in their care.

My mother lived in The Villas at Sunny Acres for four years, and it was good until the last year, it was terrible. She got very sick and was put in the health center, and when we moved her, she had bedsores, and still has bedsores. The caseworker was the most ridiculous and had zero knowledge of elderly. He told my mother that he was going to put her on the street if she didn't follow the rules. The dining room was set up nice, but the food was terrible. The lobby was nice, but when you go through the halls and to the rooms, it's not. The maintenance to fix things was not a pleasant experience, and the staff turnover was bad.

I wasn’t impressed with The Villas at Sunny Acres. The facility itself was fine, but it was a lot older. I was not able to get any definite answers out of them because they are in transition of ownership. I really could not get any commitment on pricing or availability. The staff was nice, but I didn’t see a lot of them. They did have more of a nursing home feel. Their dining room was fine. It was all very dated.

The Villas at Sunny Acres was older, but it’s well-managed, and they attended to our needs. I was just fortunate that there was a semi-private room available, and we moved there from the rehab center. It was large, very nice, and well-maintained.
I was not happy with the food. The staff was very responsive. My wife was admitted, and she passed away. I was there for a long time. I got a quality officer and admission director, and we went to my wife’s room. She was in her wheelchair. It was a room that would accommodate two; she had a couple of her personal things -- dining table and a hutch. She was comfortable, and it was clean and well-maintained but I had to buy a window air conditioner. They have individual heaters and air conditioner in the room on the walls, but it just wasn’t doing the job. One of the nurses was very nice.

My room at The Villas of Sunny Acres is good and spacious. It has a big patio. The one thing I like the most about them is the people. They offer transportation for the residents. We also have music, clubs, and exercise within the community. I would definitely recommend this facility.

Out of the nine facilities that we toured, Villas At Sunny Acres was one of the two facilities that are at the top of our list. One of the things that we liked about them was that they have professional staff. They talk more about dignity and respect. They came highly recommend by some folks that are working on our Medicaid application. Mom loves the staff and she's very pleased with them. Mom being a Medicaid patient, she is in a shared room which basically have everything she needs. As a matter of fact, we went in there and decorated it a little bit to make it homey. We were able to put in small pieces of her furniture including her recliner.
