My husband was at the Aspens at Fort Collins and then they asked me to pick him up. It was awful because they're short-staffed. They didn't do a great job, and they couldn't handle any problems. It seems they just want people there that are like zombies and don't take any extra care. I would not recommend them at all. The service wasn't good, they didn't gather all their residents up like they should in order to participate in activities. Many times he was locked out of his room because they have locks on there, and he would lock it and didn't know how to get back in. They had activities, but there weren't very many, and they didn't make a point to make sure that all the residents were taken to them. The facility was large and the rooms were about the same size as all the other places. You get what you pay for, it's probably one of the cheapest places. So, as far as what you get, the quality is not good, but in terms of price, it's one of the cheapest. They need to know how to handle those residents that are going to have problems. Because at memory care everyone's not perfect, they have problems, and they need to be able to address those problems.

I put my wife in Aspens at Fort Collins. It's very clean, very light and cheery. The care staff and the management are both friendly and helpful. The food is sort of average. It's not spectacular food, but it's adequate and presented nicely. The only complaint I have about it is that they should serve more finger food for these elderly people. They serve some food in regular portions that you would expect at home or in a restaurant, and that's too difficult for a lot of these older people to cut and eat. Probably the main reason I chose them is because of their extensive activities. My wife has been there for two weeks now, and she has gone to musical events. They have quite a few games like they had bingo yesterday. They have word games and guessing games. They have a very active director of activities. She's very good and very active.

Aspens at Fort Collins was nice. It was a beautiful and very quiet community. The person who did the tour was very nice, too. They have their own rooms, but they shared a bathroom in between, like a Jack and Jill. The bathrooms were spacious and pretty big. The rooms were spacious as well. The dining area was relatively open and big. It was more of a cafeteria style. They had a decent outdoor area that was landscaped and had benches and places to sit, which was nice. It just kind of gave us more of a nursing home vibe.

I looked at Aspens at Fort Collins. What I liked best with the staff was their approach to memory care, and the care of their memory care patients. The layout of the facility was very confusing. I don't know how any of the patients know their way around it because it was very confusing. The place was more than acceptable. The staff that gave the tour knew the facility. She knew the patients, and she knew their program. I didn't like the confusing layout and shared bathrooms, but the place was clean from what I could tell.

We visited Aspens at Fort Collins. I liked the cleanliness. I liked the staff; they were very, very outgoing and friendly. I was very impressed with how many activities they schedule for the seniors to keep them involved. I have nothing bad to say about them. The place was very clean. The rooms were a good size and very nice. The staff who toured us was very outgoing and very informative. She was casual with us and made us feel at home. They have a chef there who does everything by hand; he doesn't use any artificial. Everything is from scratch, and they sent us home with an apple pie that he had made. We didn't have time to sit and eat the meal. They have a beauty salon, and they have a lot of activities scheduled throughout the month for the seniors to get involved if they want to because where my mom is at now, they don't do a lot. The residents were very friendly. When they asked questions to the staff, they were answered immediately. One lady was not feeling well, so one of the workers was rubbing her back for her as she was sitting down. There was just a lot of attention to the residents.

After rehab at skilled nursing facility, Dad needed a new place to live. He found a new home at The Aspens. In the month he has been there, he has comfortably settled in, is establishing a routine, and is making friends among the residents and the staff. He likes to sit in the comfortable common area with its big windows looking out at the lovely courtyard. A walk around the courtyard hallway is just enough exercise after an always good meal. We can rely on the competent, skilled, and well-trained staff to assist him kindly with care and compassion. This move was a blessing in disguise.

Aspens at Fort Collins has a very pleasant environment, and there was a whole spectrum of dementia patients there. There were some who were quite active and able to do things, which is what my sister-in-law is like. I think she will fit in there nicely because there are people there she can engage with.
Walking is very important to her, and so it was important that they had a pretty large courtyard, but they also have an inside walking track around the wing where the rooms are. So it's laid out very nicely for walking inside and then going out to the courtyard whenever you want to be outside. If she's there, we will be able to keep her close to us, so there's a convenience factor, and that was very important too. Also, it looked like a hotel, it's very, very clean, and there was a good ratio of employees to residents. They were all interacting and doing things, and there were lots of opportunities for her to engage. It's a beautiful place.
