I came to this facility after a hospital stay due to severe pain that needed managed. It’s a beautiful facility, and the nursing staff for the most part was wonderful and attentive, but the doctor I had was scary. He came in and asked the weirdest questions that made no sense at all and expected answers. When I couldn’t figure out why I was asked if I was going to be a problem for the law(???), or if I was compliant, I didn’t know why he asked such a question. Then he kept telling me that my diagnosis, cancer, was terminal, he didn’t consult with my cancer doctor who told me my cancer was stable! What?!
They had me so medicated that at times I didn’t know who I was talking to or what was going on. I was told I called my son screaming several times due to the medications. The nurses complained that my son, an EMT, thought I was being over medicated, and spoke negatively about me within hearing.
I don’t think I ever want to be under Dr. Wevers care again. His bedside manner was less than caring. I always felt I had to watch what I said. I couldn’t tell him fully how I felt, because he acted so strangely with me and I didn’t trust him.
The facility is great, the food was good, the therapists exemplary as well as most of the nursing staff, but I won’t be back if Dr Wever is my doctor there.

My husband was admitted on Saturday, today is Sunday. No side bars on bed. Was told they were restrictive to the patient. What? My husband has bone cancer in the lower back and right hip. An aide helping him get out of bed flung his leg, causing him great pain. His medication is not available. They contract with a pharmacy 45 miles away. Had to bring in his medications from home. It is now 7:45am Sunday, he still has not received his medications. He has asked for them since 4:30am this morning. He is asking to come home after one day. People seem nice enough when asking them questions. So far after one day am not pleased with what I am seeing or hearing.

From the hospital, Mom was transferred to Life Care Center, where she stayed for six weeks. They didn't know that my mom had not been on insulin before she was in the hospital. They didn't think that it was something they should teach her, and they assumed that she already knew. When they were releasing her, I told them that she doesn't know how to do insulin herself. So they kept her a couple of extra weeks and worked on that very hard to make sure that she knew. They switch on a sliding fill, which I knew she wouldn’t be able to remember how to do because the fall had taken her procedural memory. Then for the flex pen, what they did was they wrote out a detailed instruction of what she should do in the right order and had it laminated. She kept it right beside her for when she's using her flex pen.
The building that my mom was in was half rehab and half long-term care. She was in one hall, the nurses were in the center, and the other hall was the long-term care. One of things that was nice about it was that they brought the entertainment into the dining hall, and everyone could go see it, and not just the ladies in the rehab but also the people form the long-term care could go as well. Meals were great, and they usually had two options for people to choose from. I really like Life Care Center a lot, and I thought they were really a good facility. However, on the rehab side, when they said you had to be released, you had to be released.
