We lived at Cheyenne Place. We moved from there last year. This is independent living. They've got other kinds of people in there, too, but I don't know what their setup is as far as what they accept. When we first got there, I liked it, but after about a year in there, I didn't care for it anymore. It just kind of went downhill that's why we moved. The staff were very nice. We had a cottage that was off the main building. It was old, but it was nice. They had activities. Once in a while, they would go on little trips to scenic places. They had poker on Sundays and bingo once in a while. My husband got most of it going. They had housekeeping and they have food for amenities. They had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They didn't serve us on Saturday and Sunday. The food was alright. The value for money was reasonable.

My mother had lived there for almost 5 years, her experience there was awesome . The staff genuinely cares for all the residents. If there is a need they fill it immediately. Jen W. is unbelievable in how she runs things. She goes the extra mile to make sure the residents have a good experience. I would highly recommend this independent living facility to anyone

My mother is in Cheyenne Place. She gets breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Friday, and on weekends she gets breakfast and lunch. I don't think they do dinner on Saturday and Sunday, and she's fine with that, she can cook her own meals if she needs to. It's a retirement community so she does her own thing. If there are people over there who can't do everything, then they have to have their own nurse or provider come over to help them. And their brain has to be functioning and they should be able to do cognitive things like go to the bathroom by themselves and be able to walk around their apartment. If they fall, then they have to go to assisted living. Our overall experience is fine. It's owned by Genesis HealthCare, I don't like a lot of their rules, but it's OK. Their staff is adequate. I didn't like the fact that I wasn't able to go and see her for like six months. They said I could come over there and we could visit outside, but it's hard for her, and she has to have a mask on the whole time. It's hard for her to be outside in the 95 degree heat, and I don't like that part at all. One time they were refusing medical care to take her to her medical appointments and stuff, but I put a stop to that and it wasn't a problem after I called. There are certain things I like about it and certain things that I don't. Mom says the food is pretty bad. The facilities are pretty old, it's about 40-50 years old, so it's pretty dated, and they have no activities. Overall, it's poor quality and it's not that great.

I moved into Cheyenne Place a week ago, and it was excellent. They have done everything that I asked them to do, they replaced slats in the blinds, removed the chandelier that was uglier than sin, just little thing they fixed in the apartment, and the food is good. Everybody is friendly, and I only met one grouch, so I'm very pleased with the situation. The staff is so helpful, one of the maintenance men has taken a box down and put it back up on the shelf at least 5 times for me; they bend over backwards to help you. Everything is well maintained, I think it's nice, and the dining area is like a restaurant with tablecloths and cloth napkins. They have a lot of activities from jewelry making, to trips to museums, Target, and Walmart.

They have mice in apartment. Food is really bad. It might be good when they start but sometimes it’s hard to tell what it is. It’s that bad. Someone stole huge tv from family too. Increase in price every year. Staff is friendly. Like bingo.

My brother resides in the main building. It is kept clean and the employees are wonderful. HOWEVER since Genesis purchased Cheyenne Place it appears that they do not want to put any money out. My brother had his air conditioning go out once, his heat has gone off twice and his refrigerator door fell off. The hvac repairman said that the relay switch was so old in the furnace that the part would have to be ordered. He is now on day five with a space heater. Enough said l think.

I have my dad's name on the waiting list at Cheyenne Place for independent living. It's great and I love it. The people are very friendly, and I found the place to be the most reasonably priced. I can't wait for them to have an opening. They were great people and were very easy to work with. It's a great place for anybody's parent, and they have good food, too. They're excellent.

We were very happy in Cheyenne Place Retirement Community. We lived in the main building on the 3rdfloor. They have a very efficient and friendly staff and a wonderful chef. They cleaned the apartments once a week and helped us with the laundry. We got 3 meals a day, 5 days a week and on the weekend, we got 2 meals each day. We liked Cheyenne Place the best for the money we could spend.

My Mom has been a resident at Cheyenne Place for 7 1/2 years so far. She loves it there. She has a very nice two-bedroom cottage with a small kitchen and a living room. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower. There is plenty of resident and visitor parking. There is 24 hour staffing and call buttons in case of an emergency in three of Mom's four rooms in her cottage.
Meals are served three times a day except for no evening meal on the weekends. The main meal is at noon on Saturdays and Sundays.
There are many available activities for residents which is why Mom selected Cheyenne Place. Too many facilities have cards and bingo and that's it. Mom rocks babies at Ft. Carson once a week. She plays Wii golf every day, with a passion. She has taken boat trips at Lake Dillon and gone to see the fall colors. Musical programs and other group events are held weekly. There is a monthly birthday party for the residents whose birthdays are during that month. There is a group who play putt-putt golf every week during the summer there on site. There are weekly exercise classes, a weekly Bible study and a book club. There is always a jigsaw puzzle going for anyone to add a piece.
There are special holiday events for residents and their families. Family members and guests are always welcome at meals with reservations for a nominal fee.
There is an exercise room and an on-site beauty shop. There is a resident council. There is a small gift shop run by the residents. The staff sends out a monthly calendar and a newsletter to the residents and their families. Cheyenne Place is an independent living facility that is reasonably priced. They provide transportation for shopping and doctor appointments if requested.
The staff is accommodating if at all possible to requests by residents and their families. I could not ask for a better place for Mom. While she prefers one of the outlying cottages where walks are kept shoveled and parking lots are plowed as needed, there are apartments in the Lodge building with elevators and carpeted hallways. There are living situations to suit everyone from less expensive efficiency units to pricier chalets. However, every resident is treated with respect.
Weekly housekeeping and laundry of sheets and towels is provided. Residents do their own personal laundry in laundry rooms close to their living units.
In my opinion there is not a better nor safer place in Colorado Springs for a senior to live. Having privacy in individual living areas and activities in the group areas gives everyone the choice to live as they choose. Many residents have told me that they should have moved to Cheyenne Place long before they did. Check it out!
