I toured Brookdale Broadmoor for my mom. It was a little dated and was kind of an older facility. The rooms were quite small, too, plus it was a little too far away from where I live. The staff member was fine. She was very nice, very friendly, and very professional, and the dining area looked fine to me.

I checked out the assisted living area of Brookdale Broadmoor. I met with the admissions person, his name was James, and I liked him a lot. He was very informative and very welcoming. The place seemed dark, kind of old, and dingy. Some of the residents sitting around there seemed not interactive. That was the impression that I got. I don't know too much about the staff, but just from what I have seen them, how they interact with the residents there, they seemed kind of not very warm. I think they have activities. I can't tell you what they were, but I think they try to engage their residents.

We went to Brookdale Broadmoor. The administrator was in a meeting, which I knew coming in, so he had somebody else give us a tour, and that's fine. The dining area was kind of small, and the recreational area was small. Things were not quite as clean and bright as the other facility. As we were touring, we saw a resident and we smiled at him. There were four halls in a square. We've turned a corner, and again, we saw him, and we turned the third corner, and there he was walking with his walker again. My husband said, 'Oh, are you doing laps?' He said, 'No, I'm lost.' The woman said, 'Oh, let me get somebody to help you.' She didn't say, 'What's your room?' She said, 'Wait here,' so she went and got somebody else to help him. I don't understand why she couldn't walk him down the hallway because it was a room just down the hallway from where we were. It might not be fair because this lady was not used to this side, and she was used to the other side, but I was not impressed by her saying, 'Let me get somebody else to help you because I was raised in a profession where somebody needs help, you stop what you're doing and you help them. You don't say, 'Hang on, let me find somebody to help you.' You try to help them first, and if you can't help them, then you get somebody to help you. It just hit me wrong. The dining room was small. The recreational room was small. The room the staff showed us was dark. It had a window, but it was just kind of a dark room. The prices weren't any better or worse than anything else we'd seen. We were just not impressed. It wasn't as big on the inside as it looked on the outside. I would want them to revisit the space they have. It might be an older area and the space that they had to, begin with, was not appropriate to what they need now. I would have them improve the dining area and improve the recreational area. They need to revisit their space allotment. It's very chopped up in there. Those were the two things that we did not like is how small the common areas were.

Brookdale Broadmoor seemed small to medium size, and it's quiet. I like the location and it just seemed comfortable. The staff was very nice, very competent, and very knowledgeable. It was very clean, manicured, and well-groomed. It seemed like a nice place. There was a hospital or a clinic nearby.

We settled on Brookdale Broadmoor because they had a more structured living facility, which is what we wanted. They had both assisted living and memory care facilities. The staff was wonderful. They showed us both an individual apartment and a shared apartment, and both were more than capable of providing the accommodations needed for my mother. They had games and top-of-the-line exercises according to the occupant's capabilities. They had a beautician and she had a shop there. They had a little store, a sitting room with bookcases and tables, a dining room, and activities outside the facility.

My husband is in Brookdale Broadmoor. He has a nice and spacious studio apartment. The staff is nice and helpful. They get to you as fast as they can when they're not serving other people. They have so many residents there. The food is delicious. They have singers come in and they play Bingo. They make a list of activities they put on a bulletin board. The room is nicely painted and it's got carpeting, shower and a regular bathroom. It's worth the money.

This facility is reasonably priced even though we expected something much higher due to its name and location. The staff is always courteous and friendly. They encourage the residents to be as independent as possible, to make their apartments, feel like home, and to participate in the management of the center. My mother is enjoying many more activities now that she is living in a safe environment where she can use her walker and no longer has to worry about cleaning, cooking, or grocery shopping.

One of the reasons I didn't like Brookdale Broadmoor (formerly Emeritus at Broadmoor) was because the memory care is in a separate building from the assisted living. I feel that the people in memory care can get some stimulation by attending some of the other activities that assisted living people do. They did have a lot of turnover, also, which I did not like. The rooms were OK.

I’ve looked at a few places for my dad, including Brookdale Broadmoor. My main concern was if they offered a pureed diet, and they did. In terms of activities and room quality, they seemed positively average. What I appreciate the most is the assistance of the staff. They were willing to sit down and help me explore options.

Brookdale Broadmoor is a nice place by the mountains of Colorado Springs, and it’s a smaller place with only 66 residents, and the people there are great. My mother-in-law has a comfortable one-bedroom with a small kitchen. They have a large courtyard, a small fitness room, and activities every day for the residents that go all day long.

Brookdale Broadmoor was more expensive than I could afford, so it was a little out of my price range, but it was very nice. The room was very spacious, and the carpet was new; it was just really elegant.

The rooms and the people were really nice at Brookdale. Their outside yard wasn’t as big as the other, and my uncle was young and active. The staff was very nice.

The facilities at Emeritus were great. Their presentation was great. The personnel that I talked to were great; they understood my situation. The quarters were outstanding. The setup of the dining area was really nice although I never got a chance to dine there. This would have been the number one place that I would have settled on.

We were able to visit Emeritus at Broadmoor. The facility was very nice, and they have nice decorations. The people there were very nice. The main facility was very attractive, but the rooms were small and they were expensive. The room that they had available had no scenic view. It just looked out on a brick wall.

My mom picks Emeritus at Broadmoor out of the three others. I think the staff is pretty good. The rooms are pretty neat, and my mom's room is good. The food is OK, and they have a lot of activities.

We choose Emeritus for mom because we like the atmosphere. It is very homey and personal. The residents are able to put up displays outside of their rooms and on the hallway. It is very well kept. It seems like a nice place. They seem to have a lot of staff.

I like Emeritus at Broadmoor. It seems to be a really welcoming place. The staff is attentive. At the time of my visit there, people were involved in some games and everybody was very friendly. The atmosphere of this place is just appealing.

Emeritus is taking very good care of my mom. They have lots of activities. She has her own room that is big enough for her with kitchenette, bathroom, and a living room.

This facility is small and personal. They have assisted living and adjacent to that is memory care. My mother, who has Alzheimer's is able to live in the assisted living area at this time. As she progresses and her care level changes she will be transitioned into the memory care. She has been there a little over a month and has adjusted well. It is very difficult to place your loved one in a facility...but once you do, you will be surprised at how well your loved one adapts. This facility has "wanderguard", which is a bracelet that is put on your loved ones wrist, so if they attempt to wander (out the front entrance) an alarm is sounded. My Mother has not been a wanderer so far, but with this disease you never know when it could happen...so having this safeguard is reassuring. I would never rate any facility excellent...because there is no "perfect" place. But, so far, my mother seems happy and adjusted...enjoys the simple activities and being around people.
