BEWARE-Really a substandard Assisted living with poor substandard medical services with pathetic unsupervised on site physician assistant working in the facility (no physician on site causing poor outcome) as my loved one was seen by her with clinical evaluation revealed no concerning findings but went to ED with sepsis. Delay in care led to poor outcome.

Garden Plaza of Aurora was a beautiful place. The staff was very nice. I have no complaints. My friend's studio room was beautiful, and clean, with a kitchen area, a refrigerator, a microwave, a sink, a TV, and a bathroom, and it sufficed for all her needs. They had a huge bulletin board with a lot of activities on it. It adequately helped the residents to keep active. They had a beauty salon and a courtyard. The food was great, and the dining area had nice tablecloths. Whenever I was there, it was great food.

I take care of a lady that is at Garden Plaza here in Aurora. The larger portion is called The Garden Plaza and she's at The Bridge which is their assisted living part. The facility is great and the people are just okay. I just don't think, a lot of times, that they have the patience for their patients. The lady that I take care of, had some dementia, and there have been a couple of times when they've been rude with her. They told her they were not going to take her on the bus anymore, which takes people to their appointments and things like that because she was upset that they were taking her to a different hairdresser, one time. She was agitated because she didn't know where she was going and they got angry with her and just told her to call me if she ever wants a ride, that they were not going to take her anywhere, anymore. That upset me. The director over there is relatively new, his name is Ralph, and I will say that I don't care for him very much. There have been a couple of situations where he hasn't been a very good problem solver and just isn't responsive, many times. The person I take care of was my mom's best friend and my mom was her designated person. My mom passed away so I've inherited her. She's a family friend.

My mother-in-law is in Garden Plaza of Aurora, and so far, all I can say are wonderful things. I have nothing negative to say. From the very first time we walked in there, it was immaculate. The staff intermingles with the people that live there always. The man who took us around knew every resident by name, and they knew him and they seemed to really like him a lot. He's very friendly, very kind, and very informative to everything that we had questions about. It's a beautiful place. She has her own little apartment and someone comes in and checks on her at least every two hours, unless she needs help, then she rings her little buzzer and they come right away. They assist her to go to dinner, to crafts or sing-alongs or whatever they have. If she wants to go outside, they will assist her to go outside. We've eaten there a couple of times, and the food is pretty good considering it's an institutionalized place. If they don't like what they're having for their main meal of the day, they can order off of a menu. There are many choices and varieties that they can have. There are cafes on each floor where they can go and get beverages, cookies, brownies, etc. We have been in her room almost every day, and it's never ever been dirty. There's absolutely no smell of urine in that facility. It's just marvelous. She has been there now about six weeks. It's a good location for us.

My mother is in Garden Plaza and we chose this facility because of its location. The place is really nice and they have activities everyday. The food tasted pretty good and is in consideration of a balanced diet.
