Desert Knolls Conv. Hospital was an older facility. The people were very nice and the staff was very good, but there was a strong odor. They had a lot of planned activities, but to me there were a lot of people there that really didn't get a lot of visits. It was kind of sad.

My grandmother received average care here, as far as I can remember. There were sometimes problems with staff members not responding for large amounts of time, and suspected theft of minor items. There was no major mistreatment or misconduct, but the care was not exceptional either. There were planned events and games, performers who entertained the residents, and dinners which she enjoyed going to when she was more mobile. It wasn't the worst place for her to be by any means, but you can't help thinking she deserves better.

i noticed that the patients didn't seem to be very happy at all and also seemed as though they were not treated properly. The place seem gloomy and sad. The patient themselves also seemed sad and maybe depressed. Even as we were interacting with them the didn't seem to care that we were there and they also seemed like they were not really there, they would just stare off into space. I didn't see very nurses around checking on the patients regularly. I did from time to time hear some patients asking for help not seeing a nurse in sight or even in hearing distance. The only real up side to the place was that it looked clean and tidy. I cant imagine me ever letting an of my loved ones live there. I would rather pay the extra money to get a nurse to come take care of anyone I love. It is upsetting to see the elderly being treated like they they don't matter and the are just there to die or dumped there by their own family members no body should treated by anyone like that.
