Wish the free Wi-Fi was better. Half the time you can’t use it. Parking is a challenge. Food has been an issue with revolving leadership in the kitchen.
New person seems to be trying. So fingers crossed !

I am VERY pleased with the community and staff! My father loves it here. Everyone is so very helpful and caring. He views Cogir of Vacaville as his “home.” Now he has to transition to Assisted Care. All the staff continues to be very helpful and kind. If you need a community for your loved ones, this is the place!
So Grateful A Daughter
April 27, 2022
My mother was a resident and has just moved due to failed health and needing extreme nursing care. I am so grateful to Cogir for their care and provision to the residents at the lovely facility. The activities, dining, assistance to various needs, environment, and staff have been a blessing. We are grateful and would not hesitate to make it my/our future residence when the time comes.

I toured Cogir of Vacaville Senior Living and met Sandra, our wonderful tour guide. She did such a great job. Both my daughter and I could feel a rapport with her. The place was in great condition. They just replaced the siding, so it looked brand new. I really liked the mature trees, the landscaping, the grounds, the space in the rooms, and everything. Their closet was as big as I have. They even have a coat closet, and a kitchen which got all I needed (a two burner stove and a refrigerator). Some rooms have alcoves, too.
She showed us an older unit and another one that had been updated. They put wood flooring in, carpeting, and stainless steel branded appliances. If somebody leaves, they go in and update it. I liked that it had recessed lighting and a nice sized patio. They didn't have a pool, but that's no big deal for me. She explained that the residents used the recreation center in Vacaville. They also have a small performing arts center, which Sandra said they arranged trips to.
Then there's a washer-dryer in the unit and weekly house cleaning service (cleaning your room and changing your linens). Later that day after we finished the tour and everything, I got a really nice email from Sandra thanking my daughter and I for coming by. To me, that was a nice touch. I didn't hear any appreciation and follow up from anybody else.
All three meals were provided. The dining area was an open seating. They have a set time, so it's not like you can go to lunch whenever you want, but they have a grab and go section if you just want to go down and get something. Transportation is available. There's a 20-passenger bus and a 3-passenger van.

We went to look at Cogir of Vacaville Senior Living. We had a lovely experience. The staff took us around and showed us different rooms. She gave us all the information that we needed and a price list. She was very informative, showed us the activities, things that were in the facilities, and the dining room. The rooms were newly remodeled. They were painting in one of the rooms we were able to see. Everything looked clean. People were cleaning in the dining rooms. It's a really good experience. I think it's a nice place.
They have outdoor spaces there. They all have patios. I like it because of the trees in the area. The staff said that was one of the reasons that kept them from having COVID there, that people had their own patios to go into. I saw a gentleman doing a puzzle in the hallway. They did have activities there. They had a store that you could shop in to get your little necessities without having to go out. The amenities are that they will take you anywhere that you want to go. They will take you to Walmart or the grocery store.

Cogir of Vacaville Senior Living was very well-maintained and very luxurious. The grounds, the staff, and the rooms were very nice. The dining area was also very luxurious, very large, very light, and airy. We only saw a couple of rooms, but we liked them. They have a bingo game, a craft shop, and exercise rooms. It's all level, so no hills or anything. So, that was very nice.

I like Cogir of Vacaville Senior Living because it is quiet, and the rooms are big and spacious. What I didn't like about it is, I'm 67, and I was informed that the average age of residents is like 70, 80. I'm not quite there. They had a kitchen, and I can't remember if they had a washer and dryer. I have seen the 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments. The 2-bedroom was huge. But I don't want to use all my money, I don't want to spend $3900 on the place to stay. The staff was perfect. They had a courtyard and a sitting area.

Cogir of Vacaville Senior Living seemed like a really nice community. Of the three that I looked at, I think probably this one or the one in the Fairfield, I would choose to live in. I liked the apartments. They were more spacious and more homey. They have more room than some of the others. The grounds were maintained nicely. They had good walking areas and a little yard, so I liked the outside. They didn't have a swimming pool, but they did have a large community covered patio. I liked the outside of that development. I like the person that gave the tour. She was very patient and very knowledgeable. I liked her. They were in the middle of changing the floor and stuff like that. They had some carpets that they are pulling out. As soon as they're done with that, it will be better.

My mother moved in right before the pandemic lockdown. The staff did a good job keeping the residents safe. However, the food went from marginal to inedible. I have asked my mother to take pictures of the cold, unappealing, coagulated, grey food being served to her. We’ve had to buy a countertop convection oven, and have groceries delivered, so that she can eat. She has lost so much weight since she moved in. They won’t even provide a sandwich as an option, even though staff have told her that they would. This situation is disgraceful, and causing my mother to become depressed.

The best fit for my mom was the Vacaville Retirement Community. The staff was excellent. We went multiple times and she took a lot of time with us. We get to see all the facilities. We like that the units have patios and there are still good spaces. They have transportation and they have all the services. There are many options and there is versatility amongst independent versus dependent. I was impressed with it.

My son and I toured Brookdale Vacaville Leisure Town. I enjoyed it. I liked the place and the rooms. They're much larger and I'm thinking of going there. There were outside activities that I could do. They showed me four different apartments, which were very good. The staff told us everything that we wanted to know and she was very thorough. We were very happy when we left. The facility was very clean. I would go there in a minute.

Brookdale Vacaville Leisure Town was nice, and the rooms were nice but extremely small. They had a dining hall, a little gym area, library, gaming room, and an outdoor area where they could do activities. They had a shuttle to take them places if they have appointments. It was fairly expensive. The staff was very nice.

Brookdale Vacaville is a great, wonderful place that's perfect for my dad. The staff seems great. He goes to eat every day, which is great, and walks around the place. He loves his room, which has an awesome view of the golf course. I wish they had reached out to him more and took it upon themselves to make sure he was shown around and follow through on their maintenance. They said they would repair some things and they have not. The staff is very welcoming.

I like that Emeritus has a campus-like setting and has a beautiful courtyard. I sampled a meal there, I liked the food as well as the snacks. They were not as expensive as the referrals I had here for Oakland and Burley. I only met with one of the directors who showed me around, so I didn’t get to see a lot of the staff. It’s a convenient location to me -- less than 5 minutes away -- and they gave me some reassurances that if it’s something the staff couldn’t handle I’m less than 5 minutes away from professional help. They showed me a calendar of the activities, the type of activities they have was for a different generation, most of the residents there are much older than I am. This area is for people over 55. They have balconies, patios, and I can walk through the community. If I want to go out of the room but not far, I can sit out at the patio or the deck. They allow pets which is a good thing, and some of the residents there have dogs they’re willing to share with other people.

Merrill Gardens is an independent living. My dad has dementia so we decided to transfer him to another facility that is more secure, but the facility is great. I ate there a couple of times with my dad and the food was fantastic. The people were really nice. My dad's room was always clean. I think they clean the rooms once a week. He can wash his own clothes, but they would wash his sheets and beddings.

My Mom just moved in here and she is enjoying all of the activities and the people she is around. There are a few issues with repairs getting done in a timely fashion, but the apartment itself is roomy (2 bedrooms) and has a small kitchen that my Mom enjoys.
