Brookdale Paulin Creek was dirty. The apartment they wanted to put my husband in was supposed to be looking out onto a green space, but instead, it looked out onto another building. The people were unfriendly and uncommunicative, and I would not put anyone in there. I lost about $7,000 when I walked out of that place. I will never, ever, ever go back there again. That place was bad. They treat the people like cattles.

Brookdale Paulin Creek would be good access for me, from where I live, and it's centrally located in Santa Rosa. So, my mom is going to be surrounded by the hospital and medical groups that she might need. The person who gave the tour was very professional, very thoughtful, and willing to take the time necessary. He made a follow-up and was again very professional, straightforward, and no surprises. The dining area seemed very open and wasn't too noisy. There's enough space between tables. The room that she secured is a one-bedroom and has recently been remodeled, so it looks nice. They have various activities. There's a big general room with a library and a lot of tables where people can play games like Bridge.

My mother is at Brookdale Paulin Creek. She's not happy with the community. First of all, they raise the rent automatically every year without providing anything new, and she's had a really hard time getting maintenance to fix things there. She's been there almost three years now, and several times she's had requests for repairs that just didn't get done. She still has one outstanding that she's been complaining about for over a year, and the food is not to her liking. But maybe it's because of the virus, I don't know. They're completely isolated. They've had people infected with the virus on a weekly basis there -- people who work there -- so they're in total isolation, and it's been pretty bad. The facility is all right, but the maintenance is very bad on the outside. The staff is wonderful; the secretaries and people like that are great, but their maintenance person is not so great. They have a high turnover rate. There is only TV for activities.

I live in Brookdale Paulin Creek and I have been here for four years now. I have no problems. It is a very excellent location and the services are good. I haven't found anything that I would complain about. I don't think I would have stayed this long if I had not liked it. The staff is very nice, I like the servers. I like what they have to offer here for transportation when we have to go to a doctor. Because of the problem with the virus, we have been in quarantine. Sometimes I don't like what's for breakfast, so I go ahead and call in and then I get what I want. The food is fine. The facility is very nice, I like the second floor. I couldn't get a 2-bedroom but what I have is fine for one person. The activities were very nice during the summer, they're trying to keep us happy. The person, who is in charge, is good. The price is high, but we have a lot of things that we are offered. I'm retired from court, so I can make it, but not everybody else can make it.

I was impressed with Brookdale Paulin Creek and I'm on their waiting list. The apartment I saw was very nice, but it was too far from the dining room, and the view in that particular apartment wasn't very good. Their amenities were very nice. We had lunch there twice and the food was very good.

Our tour at Brookdale Paulin Creek was nice, and the staff there were very friendly and helpful. But they have assisted living and memory care, which is a feature we didn't want at this time. It's also seemed very dark there, it's down near Coddingtown Mall, and to us it just didn't seem as light and nice as the other place we visited. But the people there were fine and the rooms seemed okay. We didn't see the pool but they told us that they have a pool there and there's a mini-golf course at the center of the community. We just didn't feel that that's the place for us. The dining room was kind of dark and enclosed, but the staff there was also nice. The staff who gave the tour was very helpful, nice, and I have nothing bad to say.

We visited Brookdale Paulin Creek. They have a good location, which is close to a shopping mall. The dining area was very nice, but it was dark. It is a pretty big place and only has one elevator. In the apartment that was available to us, we would have had to walk two blocks to the elevator, two blocks back to the unit, and when we came back, we would have to do the same thing over again, so we did not like that.

I went to Brookdale at Paulin Creek. I thought it was very nice place, but I did not like the location on the flatlands near a big shopping center. Aesthetically, I did not like it. The rooms were nice. It had a pool and everything. The people were very old, and I just did not like the area itself that much. Brookdale was very nice and lots of people would be happy there.

The really good thing about Brookdale Paulin Creek for my parents is that they have independent section, which my parents went into, but they also have assisted living and memory care. Even if you're in independent living, you can contract for some assistance. Brookdale Paulin Creek has what my parents needed. The staff seems fine. The sales people were very helpful. Everyone is helpful in general. My parents really enjoyed a history class that they went to. My mother thought that the exercise class that she went to today wasn't really enough exercise because it was too simple. My parents really haven't participated in many activities, but they just moved in at the end of August. Also, so far, the food has been great.

Lodge at Paulin Creek was a large facility -- the size of a city block. They had friendly staff. The rooms were impeccable. We toured about four different kitchens, and four different social living areas and patios, and there was a little golf course. There was a barbecue area where they socialize, a library, and a little post office inside the facility. They had a van that transports them. The apartments were very clean -- that's what struck me the most -- and it was secure enough.

We visited the Lodge at Paulin Creek. The place was very nice. The rooms there were different. They were much more open and brighter. They were about the same size as the other facility, but residents didn't have the ability to cook in their rooms. Not that my mother does a lot of cooking, but she likes to boil a cup of tea, reheat her dinner in the microwave, or make herself a bowl of soup. We were offered a meal there and the food was very good. They did have activities. They had transportation to and from doctors' offices and shopping excursions, but I didn't see a lot of outside activities.

My old folks really like Lodge at Paulin Creek. The environment was fine, it was clean, no smell. The room was adequate, you provide your own furniture and you get your own improvements. It is a little expensive but they have three meals. They didn't have the level of transportation service that we're used to in Southern California in some of the independent living places but they were fine. It did not have a good support system when my father got sick, I had to call 911 from Southern California. They don't deal with any of that and that surprised me. They're basically a living hotel and that's all I characterize them. I'm not saying that's not what they're contracted to do but I was expecting more.

When we looked for a place for both my parents, we visited Lodge at Paulin Creek. It was a beautiful area and the staff were wonderful. The manager who showed us around knew all the employees and there was a personal relationship between them. The atmosphere was light because everyone seemed happy.

This is an assisted living facility that's almost like a resort. It's just spectacular, high class. I know it well because I've referred a few clients there and attended monthly meetings there for a while. They have five different floor plans, ranging from a studio to a 2-bedroom apartment. There's even a swimming pool. The staff is well qualified, well trained, professional, and welcoming. They also have full services, from housekeeping to beauty and barber services. And there's both private dining in room or restaurant style meals in the dining room. The food is also excellent. I've had lunch there a few times, and it's always been good. Activities start around 9 or 10 in the morning and go until 7 or 8 at night. A lot of the activities happen in the water--aerobics, etc. But there are also knitting classes, gardening, cooking classes, and town hall meetings. It's in a remote location, but they do offer transportation services.
