The Atterdag Village of Solvang is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCR) . The CCR agreement is regulated and approved by the State of California Department of Social Services and signed by all residents upon entry. Fees charged are dependent upon the level of care and choice of apartment and services.
With continuing care comes the peace of mind that any necessary move will be internal to the campus. The opportunities to make new friends and socialize are endless. My mother was in the Lutheran Home for about two years. I never wanted her to go to a nursing home but a time came when my husband and I could no longer care for her. It was a very emotion day when we took her. I felt like I'd failed her. A nurse saw my upset and took me aside and told me that I'd done the right thing. Give us two weeks and she'll be just fine and she was! I saw first hand the heart and soul of this place. I saw kindnesses that made me cry. There was laughter there were parties and friendships made. I witnessed nurses and caregivers who cried at the loss of their patients or who would give them hugs or stop to listen. It has been 2 years ago that my mother passed away and I'll always be grateful to the Lutheran Home in Solvang for the wonderful care they gave her... and me!
