My brother-in-law is still in rehabilitation at Garden City Healthcare Center. It's very clean and very nice. The personnel is wonderful. They're doing their job. The staff is very caring and very helpful. It's an older facility. There are three beds in a room, but he has no complaints.

My husband was a resident of Garden City Healthcare Center. I didn't like any experience with it to tell you the truth. I had to make an appointment to see him, even though I had my shots. I had to make an appointment and they take you to a big room where there are tables that are scattered, and they let you visit for no more than a half-hour. I didn't like the idea that I just couldn't go in and visit him as I did in another facility; that's number one. Number two, the staff was not very well-educated on their jobs, that's for sure. I had to ask a lot of questions. He wasn't happy at all. Where he fell, one place on his arm had opened up, and when I took him to the ER, they had cleaned it out and bandaged it. He had that same bandage on when we went to pick him up, 10 or 15 days later. So, I called the nurse out to the car, and I said, "Is this bandage never been changed? How could they give him a shower and all that, and they haven't changed that bandage?" So, she changed it for me. It isn't infected, thank goodness, but she said, "Keep an eye on it." That irritated me. They had never changed that bandage. I didn't think he had gotten care there at all that he should have. The office that I went into was kind of chaotic. I couldn't go into the building except for that one room they had. I had to go all the way around the building to get into this one room to go see him. So, I can't tell you what the rest of the facility looks like. I went to that big room. They had tables in it, and that seemed to be okay. It was like a big recreation room, and they had tables about 10 feet apart so people could go in there and visit their loved ones. That's the only room I was in, and it looked okay, but I never did see the rest of the facility.

I would never suggest anyone sending their loved one to this place. This is the place people go to die. DO NOT SEND ANYONE HERE. The nursing staff left my dad in a room farthest away from the station with food and water and the man can’t even move his arms. Then when asked questions they either have no idea or can’t seem to send you to anyone who can. The facility is dirty and considering we are going through a pandemic that should be one of the priorities aside for patient care. My dad currently needs round the clock care and to only see a nurse for breathing treatments 3 times a day is ridiculous.

My mother had to go into Garden City Healthcare because she was so ill and she was vomiting and nauseous. She's been in the hospital emergency room I don't know how many times. We couldn't take her home. They decided to move her over there and we actually had her tied to her bed because we were so afraid she would fall. I was so relieved when hospice took over because I was trying to get her out of the emergency room and waited six hours there. She was so weak. It's a clean facility but being a rehab facility, there are people there and it's kind of crowded.

Was not happy with the care my father had. Had wounds that need to care for and staff was slow responing, also had slow response to call button. And when ask for pain meds up to 45 minutes before coming back. Staff in rehab we very friendly but not the care staff.
