I liked Pilgrim Place because it is not one big building and rather a community of little houses. One building had apartments, but mostly it was a lot of little houses, so you have a sense of being in a neighborhood rather than in a big building. Lunch is the one meal that you eat together as a community. Who you sit with is determined by the computer, so you don't just sit with your friends, so within a year, you would have sat with everybody, and I thought that was pretty cool. It is a retirement community for clergy, missionaries, people who worked in non-profits, and social justice workers, so it is a very interesting group of people. I was impressed by it. I'm not ready to move, but it was interesting to see and to get a sense of what it is and begin to think about. There was an exercise room. They get involved with Claremont College, which is not too far from them. It is right near the downtown of Claremont. There is a seminary in Claremont, so it's a place that would be intellectually stimulating.

The place was fine. The staff were respectful of myself and my family when we came to visit. They made sure that my grandmother had everything she needed to live her life without unnecessarily intruding on here day to day life. We ate the food there and it was pretty good. The pool was nice and the residents seemed happy. There seemed to be many activities for the residents to do. My grandfather, when he was still alive worked at a used bookstore that was part of the community, he really enjoyed that. When my grandmothers health went down hill and she was transferred to the high intensity care part of the community the staff seemed proficient. Everything through community was clean and organized. Community had many palm trees and walking paths, it was a very nice environment. Was it the poshest? No, but it did its job and was honestly the best that could be afforded by my family.

I only didn't give Pilgrim's Place a five because I have not been to that many assisted-living facilities and I don't know if it is truly the best of the best. What I can say from what I've heard about assisted-living places, is that it must come pretty close. I am a student in Claremont and I visited Pilgrim's Place in order to talk to some residents about their lives. I have hard many horror stories about assisted living facilities, but this one was nothing like that. It was clean and cheerful. The residents seemed happy and well taken care of. Like most of Claremont, the building itself was very nice and welcoming. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. Although I have not had relatives stay here, I would recommend it without a doubt and can only hope that I end up in a place like this in my old age, if needed be. I couldn't find anything wrong with this place at all.

Beautiful facility. Independant Living, Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing. Highly skilled staff who are caring and compassionate. This facility is a special place for retired pastors and those in the non profit field of service. Many activities, great dining options and because its location a great connection to community resources in the city of Claremont. Wonderful placement! I highly recommend this placement.
