The staff at Sakura Gardens of Los Angeles was friendly. Overall, it's OK. Everybody seemed happy. Everybody would say hi to each other, so that's pretty good. The wall and the ceiling were kind of a little outdated. It probably needs a little renovation, and they need to clean it a little bit. The staff during the tour was a very nice lady. She was friendly and very welcoming. They had a lot of activities, but I was there on a weekend. They said they had no activities during weekends, and family members come and visit their relatives. The dining area was big.

My mother is 97 years of age and has been a resident of Sakura Gardens’ senior living since July 2021. She was reluctant to leave her house of more than 30 years as moving to a senior home was to her tantamount to abandonment. Born and educated in Taiwan and having lived for years in the US, yet her language of fluency and sense of culture are mostly Japanese. We faced a daunting task of finding a suitable, caring, clean and health-minded place for a beloved parent. It was with an enormous sense of relief and gratification that we found all that in Sakura Garden. My mother is happy in her new home.
She has a one bedroom with a view of the Los Angeles skyline, the glimmering lights of which delight her in the evenings, as she waits for the diligent and cheerful nurse to bring and watch her take the nightly medications. The knowing staff placed Mom with three other residents at the same table for all their meals, where they are seen laughing and chatting away even as others have left the dining hall. Having become friends and companions, they go to exercise classes and see movies together. At times Mom likes to sit at the bench under the shade of a big tree by the entrance to relish in the afternoon cool breeze on a hot day, or go for a walk to greet the colorful koi fish at the pond. She is getting more forgetful as expected, but the dedicated and well-trained staff members are always patient and with understanding are able to take care of any mishaps and concerns. She told a relative recently that her home now is at Sakura Gardens.
