I was in Brier Oak on Sunset. The facility was nice. The nurses were nice and considerate. The food was good. It was during COVID, so I really didn't get to do activities. They brought us articles to read, we had television and all that, so it was a comfortable facility. I have nothing bad to say about it. They made sure you had your bath. It was a good facility overall. The facility was nice. They had a smoking section and we were able to go out. It was large and you could go anywhere around the facility. The cost was decent, but it was a little expensive. My cousin has been looking for a place and I told him the best place would be Brier Oaks because he is in a wheelchair and he is unable to walk, but he can afford to pay lots of money.

This place is terrible. The moment you walk in it has a horrible smell. The staff look unhappy working there especially the supervisor, she is rude. The button to call the nurse did not work. After we brought it up to the staffs attention they said it was an electral issue and worked only when it wanted to. The place looks run down, looks nothing like the pictures on there website. The quality of care is terrible. Bottom line don't send your relatives to this place.

I met a couple of extraordinary nurses and attendants who were so compassionate and patient with my mother. My only complaint is that it felt a bit too small and crowded, especially around the nurses station. The facility was brightly lit and very clean and comfortable. Family members were encouraged to stay with their hospitalized parent. My neighborhood has many hospitals and assisted living facilities but this was the first and only one I visited. The adminstrative staff gave us a tour and helped arranged payment and insurance plans. My mother stayed about a week before she became ill and had to be resuscitated. She was transfered to a major hospital where she died three days later. I often regret that I didn't let her stay at Briar Oak where she was comfortable and felt close to home. It would have much more peaceful if she had passed there instead of the hospital. The food was a lot better too!
