Oakmont of Mariner Point is nice. It's really way back in the distance, so you get kind of confused on where it is, but the facility looked nice. The rooms were a nice size. They have nice sceneries because you're out there by the water. The rooms were really nice and clean. My mom is going blind, so she needs the rooms to be bright, so the rooms were bright and that was a good thing. That was a plus. It wasn't dark in the room when you went in without the lights on.
I've only dealt with one staff member, and she was really nice. The facility is really beautiful. The memory care and assisted living are two different areas, so what they have in the assisted living is not the same that they have in the memory. There's not a giant dining room and all that stuff. Everything is a whole lot smaller in scale. There are two different areas, which are totally different from each other. In the memory care, they have codes on the doors, so you can't get in without a code, and can't get out without a code.

My mom was in Oakmont of Mariner Point. I don't think they were caring enough to even accommodate my mother. They didn't have the compassion to help her. In the beginning, when we got her in the room and everything, my mom was agitated. She didn't have anything to eat before then, but they did try to give her at least a soup to eat. But after that, we tried settling her to her room to sleep, and it seemed like we were ignored. I had to chase down a staff member to clean her. No one came by to see my mom, and I was there for about six hours. I had to go find someone to come into the room. The MedTech was very friendly and showed compassion a little bit. But that was only one person. And then they called me the next morning that my mom fell and hit her head. Their protocol was to take her to the hospital to get her checked out. The overall general experience was horrible for me based on what happened.
