About This Community

Welcome to Solano Life House

We are a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly; serving Solano County California from Dixon for thirty years, but what we offer is unique in the senior care field - a fixed price. We provide personalized care in an active community environment with two full time activities directors providing mental and physical stimulation every day within the home, and heading out of the home with our active seniors on regular day trips in our 15 passenger excursion van. Yet we're small enough to offer personalized, relationship based care for residents by our loving staff; something unavailable at larger corporate facilities.

We are a state licensed, secured grounds, family owned nineteen room ranch style senior care home, providing assistance with daily life. We offer a continuum of care for our senior residents. Throughout those stages we strive to enhance residents' lives with activities, companionship, safety and comfort in a communal living environment, and we do so in a manner that makes community living a viable option to residents and their families on fixed incomes. We have one shared room rate for all residents; a fixed cost of $2,950 per month, all included. Our flat rate is unique in the senior care home community, as our residents enjoy no added fees; no levels of care charges, no service fees or menu pricing, and our residents pay this fixed rate for as long as they choose to call Solano Life House home. We also work with military veterans to allow immediate occupancy while they wait for approval of their federal benefits. Come tour our home and meet our personable care givers and staff. We would love to meet you and show you life at Solano Life House.

My Mom has lived at Solano Life House for over 5 years now and this is a wonderful place. If you are looking for a place for your loved one, I highly recommend Solano Life House. The staff are all very caring and are available whenever you need them. They provide activities that keep the residents learning and engaged. They provide everything for a set fee so there are no surprises like there can be at other Assisted Living Facilities.

Solano Lifehouse is a well maintained and clean facility. After touring several assisted living facilities within a 20 miles radius, Solano Lifehouse was by far the best maintained. More importantly, we needed to find a place where my father would be safe and a management/staff team that would work with our family that would reinforce the goal of fall prevention and assistance with daily needs. My father enjoys daily walks with staff, occasional outings and has made some friends which have been vital to his well-being. The staff are friendly and diverse which my father has commented about since he loves history, culture and perspectives of others. My father has been there for over 1 year and is doing better which is a relief for our family during this difficult phase in my father's life. We are very thankful to Solano Lifehouse and feel fortunate that he was accepted for care there. Mary the manager of Solano Lifehouse is one of the main reasons why we choose this facility - she was very supportive during a very difficult time in which we had to make a decision fast - it was the best decision.

Solano Life House was the cheapest one around. It looked like an old-style house from the 70s, with a brick front and big, mirrored windows so you couldn't see in. Once you go inside, it's a big, open area, so it looks a lot better on the inside than it does on the outside. There's a courtyard that's really peaceful looking and a long hallway that looked like an old school or a sort of religious establishment. It's actually a really pretty hallway. I think there are maybe twenty bedrooms with two beds in each, so there are forty people all together. They have really big bathrooms, which I thought was a nice feature, and everything looked very clean. I met the lady who runs it and saw two other people who were helping the residents. For me, it just doesn't seem like my mom's type of activity level, but I think it's fine. I wouldn't mind living there myself if I were an older person. They have a sitting area in a very large living room, I saw the residents doing some kind of physical activity there, and a man was leading them in playing some kind of a balloon game. There were residents sitting either in wheelchairs or on chairs and watching the activities that were going on. Some of them looked like they were asleep or weren't really aware of their surroundings too much, but I understand that some of them aren't very well. The activities might be sort of fun for a week or two, but I'm not sure if my mom would get along there very well.

Both my parents are residents of Solano Life House, My parents are Spanish speaking and so when I was looking for a care facility It was a must that they had Spanish speaking staff, and SLH has Spanish speaking staff members on every shift and I can feel better knowing that my parents can communicate their needs. All Staff at SLH have all been so nice and I see how well they take care of my parents, they truly care for them and their needs.

My Mother has been at Solano Life House for 3 years. The staff is outstanding. They love her when I can't be there. They truly care and love all the residents. They have done an outstanding job during the covid crisis. No cases. They are the best.

My wife Londa has been a resident for 3 months. The care has been excellent. The entire staff seems to take a personal interest in the resident and keeps you informed of any changes and progress in their care.

I toured Solano Life House. The lady was very nice and it seemed she knew what she was doing, but I did not think it was a good fit for my dad. It was nice, and on a smaller side. The rooms were shared and the private room was quite a bit of money. It's a large house, there's a living area, a dining area, a couple of offices, and a long hallway that consists of all the bedrooms. It's in a regular residential/business area and it's close to my work. The couple of people I met were very pleasant and nice, and I liked the staff.

Facility is clean. Staff and management are friendly. Our grandfather/great-grandfather was a resident for over 3 years at Solano Lifehouse. The staff took great care of him, making sure his needs were being met. We are thankful that our grandfather had SLH to call home for the past 3 years.

My mom lived at Solano Life House for nearly 4 years and I was very pleased with our experience there. I originally placed her somewhere else and that was a HUGE mistake! Once moved to Solano LIfe House she began to feel safe, and eventually began to smile again. The care givers and other staff hugged her, joked with her, and genuinely cared for her and her happiness. As a family member I always watched how the staff cared for not just my mom but everyone living there. Their care and concern seemed to be consistent weather a family member was present or not. The facility manager Mary and General Manager Porter were always open to suggestions and very responsive as my mom's needs evolved. I highly recommend and have referred several friends to bring their family member to SLH. Actually three of them also placed loved ones at Solano Life House and are all very happy with their decision to do so. Placing my mom in a facility was the hardest thing I ever had to do but once at Solano Life House it was the best thing for my mom!

I am very happy my dad is a resident at Solano Life House. The staff is very friendly and attentive to his needs and safety as well as the care of all the other residents. Everyone is treated with respect, dignity, and fun. With encouragement from staff, my dad enjoys the many group activities and exercise sessions. Meals and snacks are nutritious and always looked forward to. I have seen and experienced many examples of Mary the Administrator, and staff providing personalized care for the comfort and well-being of residents which makes Solano Life House an excellent place to consider for your loved one.

We can't say enough good things about Solano Life House! The staff is so caring and attentive to their residents. The care and compassion they exhibit cannot be faked. The food is not institutional. It is appetizing, varied, well prepared, nutritionally balanced and is presented well. The common area is well lit, roomy, and there are activities to engage the residents. The courtyard and garden is a quiet respite. Perfect for sitting and watching the birds and savoring the flowers. Rooms are nice, whether as a single or as a double. Each has a private toilet and shower. While there may be fancier looking facilities, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a more caring staff. My father was a resident for 8 months, before he passed. We knew when we visited that he was in good hands, and that we had made a good choice in placing him at SLH

My dad has been at Solano LifeHouse for 2 years. Since they hired a new director I have seen great changes. Staff is more attentive and someone is in charge. They now have a van and take the residents on outings. My dad is happy and loves the girls who care for him. Before the new director came I was going to move my dad to another facility. I am thankful that I held out to see if change would occur. It did, and I hope to keep dad at Solano LifeHouse until he is no longer with me. (as long as they keep striving for excellence.) It was the right choice for us. I can now leave my dad and take vacations without worrying. He is in good hands. Staff who truly care. I appreciate the fact that they don't graduate prices. The price you pay is set no matter the amount of care your family member needs. No surprises or hidden costs.

I am so glad I found this place. It was very difficult to admit I could no longer care for my wife of 50 years at home and had to put her in a facility. My daughter and I visited several places and settled on this one based on its bright, airy and clean ambiance and our impressions of the staff. My wife has been here over two years now and the place keeps getting better better. I visit her almost every day at lunch and can attest that the food is very good and with great variety. I observe the staff interacting with the residents, giving out lots of smiles and hugs, breaking out in dance when the music moves them, and just creating a joyful atmosphere. I for one am a happy camper. My feelings of guilt are melting away knowing that my wife is receiving .good and loving care. And the fact that that the rates here are so reasonable is just the icing on the cake.

I think Solano Life House was nice, but I don’t know if it will work with my father. The staff was very nice. The rooms were very clean and very nice. They didn’t have bad odor. The facility was good.

My granddad has been at Solano Life House for years and everyone takes such great care of him. My grams was there before she passed and they were so wonderful and caring of her. The Day Staff is like a second family. We've gotten to know them on a personal level as well, they always check on us and give us updates on my granddad. The building and rooms are being updated and all the changes have been wonderful. The front room is so bright and welcoming. The staff is so caring of the residents and each other. The food has changed over the years; they use fresh food/produce and everything looks great. It doesn't have that nursing food smell that some places have. It may not look like much from the outside but your family member will get the best care here.

There is nothing negative to say about Solano Lifehouse. The staff sincerely cares about each and every resident and treats each individual with respect. They truly understand the challenges of losing one's independence, and they make every effort to truly listen to each resident and to reassure him or her. If you are looking for a home where an elderly person will be confident, comfortable, loved, and respected, I highly recommend Solano Lifehouse.

I really wasn't able to do a whole lot with them because I was uncomfortable while I was there. Their gardens weren't as well taken care of. The facility had a smell to it. The room where they all shared space was bright and sunny; however, the rooms in the back where my mom would go were very dark. They had a small kitchen. They didn't seem to have enough staff. I was thinking, if there wasn't enough staff during the day, what it would be like during the night. Also they were concerned that they wouldn't be able to help my mother get up and down.

My mother-in-law has a friend at this facility and on a recent holiday I joined her on a visit. I actually enjoyed going and I didn't expect that to be the case. The day that I was there they had therapy pets visiting and the place was active, clean, and the staff was welcoming; much like the feeling of extended family in a home. I had not been to a senior center since I was a kid and those memories stay with you. That's what I expected to find again, but I was pleasantly surprised so I'd definitely recommend this place if you have such a need within Solano County.
