I visited Sutro Heights Residential Care Home. It is up in the hill, and I did not feel comfortable. While getting out of the car on a wheelchair, I felt like I was falling forward. It was on a very steep hill. It was not a pleasant place. Chunks of paint were peeling from the wall. The room does not look attractive at all. I could not see myself in there. It seemed like it was all men down there, I did not see any ladies. They have one caregiver that comes up in and out. It is in the garage level. They were not welcoming; they looked at me like I was an outer space person from Mars. They took my temperature outside and said my temperature is too low and I cannot come in, and I told them that was because I was outside, and I told them to take the temperature of the lady there, so they took it and it was also low. Then we had to go inside and took my temperature there, and it was normal. They showed me the shower. It was a tub with a shower chair inside, and I cannot get into the tub without a transfer bench. I wouldn't have been happy there. It was a residential home and every rooms that they have, they chopped it up into bedrooms. I don't know what it was like upstairs in the main house, but down in the basement, that is what they had. I would prefer a private room because people have different habits. They said they can accommodate 8 upstairs, and 4 or 6 downstairs. Once I got inside, one of the workers recognized me. He used to work in one of the residences that I rented from. He was very nice and patient. I did not meet anybody else so I could not say that they were all the same. They said they served three meals a day plus snacks, and they said whatever I want. I could not believe that they would have paint peeling from the ceiling. They also have stuff in the closet, and I would come with my bed. They said I would have to bring my Hoyer lift to transfer from the wheelchair to the bed.

Sutro Heights Residential Care Home was a home and they have turned every possible space except the dining room and kitchen, into a living quarter. Most of them were shared spaces. The person who showed us around was very thorough, and gave us the details on things. Their dining area is basically just the dining room of the house. It was clean but a little run-down like the wallpaper was peeling, a little dark and kind of dingy-looking, but it wasn't dirty.
