Here, amid lovely outdoor spaces and scenic North Bay views, the focus is on each individual resident—creating a safe, friendly environment for your loved one filled with meaningful activities like music, and exercise programs, as well as daily support, medication management and special dietary plans.

THE SUPPORT OF A LOVING ENVIRONMENT:

For seniors with memory issues, we believe that family makes all of the difference. That’s why we partner with family members to get a deep sense of life history, familiarity and personal preferences. Our staff gets to know their seniors and use this knowledge to individualize communication, redirect behaviors and reinforce safety, comfort and a sense of well-being. This close partnership with family, daily caregivers and physicians and nurses is integral to the well-being of your loved one.

THE BALANCE OF ENJOYMENT AND SAFETY:

Meals are specially prepared for Memory Care patients by our nutritionists and chefs. Residents are gently guided toward daily success through specific design elements including secured perimeters, walking paths, small intimate dining areas, outdoor gardens and interactive areas. On-site staff focuses on gentle interventions to encourage the most rewarding lifestyle – and maximum independence – possible within this secure, welcoming environment.

Cogir of San Rafael offers striking details and home finishes, providing optimum convenience and comfort to meet all residents’ needs. Outside of their home, residents can enjoy a stroll through our inner courtyard or lush garden. There is also our and library for quiet moments of reading or gather with friends to play at the fireplace lounge. Table service is offered all day in our dining room along with on-site assistance for dining, hygiene, and dressing.

When our residents want to explore the town, van and car transportation is available. Shop at nearby Northgate Mall, pickup medication at CVS and Walgreens or head to medical appointments at Kaiser Permanente offices. For some added fun, Lagoon Park, Field of Dogs, and China Camp State Park are all fantastic outdoor options.

The Cogir of San Rafael Memory Care is an exceptional memory care facility. They seem to know what they're doing. They only deal with memory care so they're not a split facility where a part of it is one thing and the other part is another. They're strictly just memory care so their focus is on each of the residents there. The rooms are very nice and they come with a little kitchenette. They have lots of activities, and they seem to be keeping all of the residents busy. They seem to have something going on all the time. I was there for an hour and they had a whole bunch of different activities that they were engaging the residents in. They have a library, a beauty parlor, and a TV room. They have an outdoor area, a bistro area, and, of course, dining facilities.

We liked the way Cogir of San Rafael looked. It's a renovated hotel, so it doesn't have a clinical feel when you walk into it. It feels homey. They've also got really friendly staff. They're very good with the residents and I've been there five times now. They're very attentive to the residents and they all looked well cared for. Looked like they have really good staffing ratios and good food. They still have a lot of remodeling to finish though, but they have plans for that.

It was a nice place, but it was geared toward dementia. It was a different environment than what we were looking for because it was sort of locked down and it had a much different feeling. The place was lovely, the staff was lovely, everything was nice, but it was not the right fit for what we were looking for. I saw the list of activities, but I didn't see anyone doing any activities. It didn't look like an active community. The lady that was supposed to give us the tour wasn't there and because of that, it wasn't as comprehensive as we had anticipated.

My mother lives here. It's a nice place. The community seems fine. The apartments are nice and have their own refrigerator. They cook meals for them and have a big dining hall. They take them for rides out to lunch sometimes, and have movies, exercise, and crafts.

It is a very nice facility. It has more assisted living options. They have memory care there too. It is a very nice facility that is a little smaller. But overall I think it is a good design for seniors. The staff was very nice and very accommodating. It is nice, clean, and well decorated. They seem to have a large number of staff available to look after the residents.

It was pleasant, but it just didn’t have the same welcoming feeling that we experienced. It was larger; they had more in their community. I probably would recommend the facility.

This high-quality assisted living facility provided care for my best friend's uncle for many years. He suffered from dementia and was extremely demanding and they met all his needs. He even fell in love with a fellow resident and they accommodated that relationship, taking the two of them on "dates." I have known several friends who've had family members at this facility and everyone speaks so highly of it.

This is a huge complex--close to 300 residents--in a good area of San Rafael that offers assisted living only. I know it well through clients I've referred there. It's located in a commercial neighborhood, close to Northgate Mall, and there are lots of other shops nearby. Parking is great, and it's close to a freeway, but it's not accessible to public transportation. It's a beautiful place. Lots of green, flowers, beautiful grounds. It has the feel of a big B&B, with a little upscale cafeteria for breakfast and lunch--and always lots of treats available: cookies, brownies, lemonade, tea. It's also very clean and feels homelike even though it's large. The staff is wonderful: positive, high energy, professional, welcoming. They have case management, physical therapists, occupational therapists, all well trained. And the activities are excellent. There's a gym for workouts, a yoga class, a stretch class, lots more. And they have a weekly menu for food that's served restaurant style. The food is very good.
