My mother has moved into Pacific Pointe Senior Living. When she first moved in, they were switching management companies, but since then, they have had well-balanced nutritional meals three times a day. They even seem to go a little bit above and beyond just independent living. The staff is very caring. If there's a personal issue, they've checked in with me several times to see if everything's OK, like if you need any help. They've offered to help with services, like getting help with her rental and helping us get her on disability. They have that knowledge and they extend it. You don't have to ask. They're really good. When I first started taking care of my mom, I knew nothing about any of this. I didn't know anything about SSI or Social Security Disability. I didn't know that she could qualify for a caregiver if I'm out of town because I live in Orange County. They've helped me find all that information. The people here are very nice. It's great. Even the kitchen staff is great. I love it. They just hired a new activity director, and he's doing well. They have two little exercise classes every day of the week, one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. For Easter, they had church service. A band comes in every once in a while and plays music and they dance. They celebrate birthdays every month. There are movies every day and trivia games. The new gentleman they hired had lots of experience with memory care, so he's instilling all the stuff that he knows into their activities. There are painting classes, they even have a computer class and a phone tablet class for beginners. The older generation gets kind of stuck on their technology, so there's always somebody that can help. When I come to visit my mom since I've gotten to know them, I get to stay as long as I want, and their food is really good. It's getting better and better as it goes along. It's an older building, and it's got its quirks, but they're good at trying to get it fixed. They're having a little problem with the washing machines right now. They supply washing machines and dryers for the residents and some of them have gone out, so they're working on getting those done, but I think that was awesome. The residents can do all their own laundry without having to pay because the housekeeping does their linens and their towels for them, but the residents can do their own laundry and they don't have to worry about having quarters or anything like that. They're getting that fixed up. My mom's sister lives literally within walking distance from here. That was a big selling point, too. It worked out well.

I looked at Pacific Pointe. They're just very, very nice and it was clean, very clean, but for me, it's too far. I want to be close to my grandchildren and the other place is a block from them. One of the things I liked about it, it's small. It's very comfortable. It's a residential area and it's close to many things. What made it look comfortable from the beginning when we made the tour was when you went through the front door it had a nice patio. It's a three-story building, and each story has a nice outside patio. The lady that showed us around was off duty, they told us we didn't need an appointment, we could just come by any time. And she was there, they were having a problem with the elevator. She lives onsite, she went out of the way to show us, and she was just great.

The facilities of Pacific Pointe are nice and relatively quiet. The people and staff are really good. The food is OK. They have bingo, dominos, coloring, jigsaw puzzles, a library, computers, and karaoke on Friday nights. They have trips to different places, a theater on-site, and televisions all over the place. I've been here since June or July and am comfortable and happy so far. Sometimes the meals aren't coordinated, but we've been able to work with them and get things straightened out.

My aunt is living in Pacific Pointe. It’s really good, she goes on a lot of outings, and they form different clubs for them. It’s very active, and there’s a lot of stuff going on. She talks about how good the food is. He has a studio with a little kitchenette, and it’s perfect for one person.

I liked Pacific Pointe a lot. It's definitely a place I would consider for my mom. It looked like a pretty good option. It was not a licensed place, but it had everything you would want. Meals were prepared. There were activities. They would take residents twice a week to shopping and doctors' appointments. Maybe once a week, they would take them to a park or something. It was perfect. You would be in a social setting, and that would be safer because there would be people checking on you. It was excellent, and I liked it a lot. I liked the people who were working there, the setup, and how they kept the residents active. Plus, it's close to where I work.

Pacific Pointe Retirement is a very friendly and very helpful community that served three meals a day. They had a studio and some transportation available. However, if you have a walker or a Hoveround like my husband has to use, they don't have vehicles that provide for that. There's also no air conditioning, so it's very warm there. It's near the coast, so when it gets hot, it gets hot. They had a small elevator, so if you're someone that has a walker, wheelchair, or Hoveround, once you get in, nobody else can fit. I did notice a lot of residents had similar chairs as my husband. The residents and the people that were in the office were very patient with some older people that weren't exactly the happiest and friendliest. They're located in a nice area right on Main Street.

Pacific Pointe Retirement Village -- this place was good and clean. The staff was also helpful and friendly, but I was not very impressed with the entire facility. The room was simple, but clean; it was OK.
