This 1927 Italian Renaissance home was originally known as the Harbor View Chateau Guest House. It has been a resident facility for over 50 years, and since 1987 has been owned and operated as an assisted living residence by Harbor View Chateau, Inc., a family-owned company.

Harborview Chateau is clean, well-run, very nicely updated, and with big rooms. They take tours, they go to the beach, and more than once a week, high school people come in and give musical concerts. They had their own piano, and the residents were assisted in playing it. The staff seemed very capable, we asked them questions, they knew right away, and they were assisting people who were walking upstairs. The financial staff seemed well-versed and had all the answers to questions I asked. It looks very nice.

This is a top notch community that was taken over by a caring and dedicated local family. It shows in their care for the select few that get to call this beautiful place their home. The rooms have unbelievable views, the food is prepared to the resident's liking or needs, the care is superb, and the location is ideal. It is truly a gem of a home for elderly in need of 24 hour care and supervision. The owners have their own loved ones in care there, which says a lot! The residents are engaged to their individual abilities and preferences, and the families are happy there. It is a breath of fresh air in the industry.

We chose Harbor View Chateau for my grandfather. We just fell in love when we went over there. It's a very nice facility on a quiet little street in San Diego by the airport, in a nice, easy to get to, and easily accessible neighborhood. It's very close to my aunt, which is good for visits. It was a nice building, like an historic building so it has some charm to it. What we liked about it was it wasn't so institutional. It felt more like a home and not like a care center, doctor's office, or a commercial building. It felt comfortable and wasn't small by any means. The staff had a more personable touch and was more intimate. The other thing that was great was they're willing to take my grandfather's cat with him, even though he's incapacitated and can't really take care of the cat. It was a really good facility. I liked that it wasn't a corporate chain of retirement communities. A family that owns it, so it was just more appealing to us, and the price was really good. They had all the nice amenities, personal touches, and the price was really good at $4,700, all inclusive.

I visited Harbor View Chateau, which is set up on a hill with a beautiful view of downtown. It's upstairs, so there's a sliding chair available, but my grandmother can still walk yet would not want to walk up and down the stairs to her bedroom. They had all the men in one room watching TV, and all the women were playing bingo, so it's more structured, but I'd like it better if it's not structured. It's a big building that you need to drive up a steep driveway to get to the parking lot. There's nothing else, like a garden. It has stairs; why would they have stairs in a place where people can trip and fall?

I liked that Harbor View Chateau was a small community in a nice location with furnished rooms. The staff was very accommodating, friendly, and warm. I very much liked the place, but it was a little more expensive, and my father would be sharing a bedroom, so that?s why I did not select them.

We visited several facilities and one of them was the Harbor View Chateau and it’s a nice place. The staff are excellent, friendly, and patient. They have a standard one bedroom, like a small efficiency apartment area. The dining room looks nice. I like that it’s close to our residence.

Facility smells like urine all the TIME staff is ALWAYS ON THEIR CELL PHONES I've caught caregivers in bathroom on the phone while I visited my family just disgusted with this place I was also present when a husband asked for help to a caretaker and she said you can hold on I'm busy as she stood by the stairs ! Out raged !
