My father is doing fine at Baywood Court. The staff has been great. We have not had any issues. They're very organized, attentive, and caring. It's a nice environment. He was at the hospital for a few weeks and then he moved to Baywood Court for therapy. Then it was determined that based on his condition and age and everything else, he was to remain there long term, so they did not move him. They matched him with a person that spoke the language and had kind of the same culture. They look at those things and care about those things. Also, they did not move him after the therapy session was finished. We were afraid that he was going to be moved to a different room, but they said that they were going to keep him in the same room just because at that age, moving around and changes are just difficult to deal with. They're very caring and attentive. It's a very inviting environment. It feels like you're walking to a hotel. Even though there are patients with different conditions, it does feel like a very happy, inviting environment. The staff is very caring. His room is obviously on the first floor, and it's a two-bedroom. Each patient has access to their own storage for clothing and anything else, and also TV and phone and any personal items they want to store there. The rooms are well-lit. One wall has a window, so the sunlight could come in, and there's a courtyard outside. The hallways are pretty wide and well-lit, so patients can come out of their wheelchairs if they can, to just kind of roam around during the day. They also have a dining area just in that same hallway. They also have other dining areas on the other side as well. My dad usually eats in his room or sometimes I take him outside to the courtyard. They are very accommodating. The food quality is good and also the menu choices. You can choose whatever you want from the menu, but also if there's anything special that you want, you can write it down. For example, my dad likes to have apple juice every morning and also a banana every day, you can just put that down and they'll accommodate. My dad doesn't eat pork so they accommodate for that. Because of his teeth, he's not able to chew very well, so what they do is they cut the food into small pieces or sometimes they grind the food, so he's able to eat. They do a good job there. There are scheduled activities, and my dad participates. He's taken for a walk to the exercise room with his walker and then there he does about 20 minutes of exercise. There are different types of exercise equipment that he uses for his legs and arms. I'm sure other activities are available because they are given booklets to help them understand what's going on at Baywood Court. There are a lot of things going on. They do a good job. It's paid by Medicare and Medi-Cal, but because I looked at other places when we were trying to place him, it's really hard to find a place that is nice as Baywood Court. I think it's a good value for the money. The good thing about this environment is that it's not only just a nursing home, they don't even call it that. It's a place where you have assisted living and independent living and then also you have what they call the health center where they take care of the patients. There is also the rehab center. It's all kind of really combined. It's a big facility. You don't feel like you've been categorized and put in one place. You are in a place where you're with other people that actually live there, so you don't feel like an outcast.

I can't begin to say how grateful I am for all the wonderful services that my aunt has been getting at Baywood for the last couple of years. She is currently in Independent Living, but she plans to stay at Baywood when she needs more care. She has been able to reunite with many of her friends from the Castro Valley Senior Center and has also made new friends who are her neighbors and through her exercise class. Her apartment is beautiful and I completely trust everyone who works there. They go out of their way to always make her feel like family while still being respectful. I sleep well at night knowing she is in good hands (especially now during Covid).

Thank you for your emails about the COVID situation and what you are doing at Baywood to prepare and protect the residents. My Dad is doing wonderfully well at Baywood. He has made a nice circle of friends, a number of whom were parishioners at St. John the Baptist Church in San Lorenzo--where we four kids attended school through 8th grade, and where he and my Mom attended Mass. The meals there are delicious. So much so, that my Dad has gained a little weight! I recently enjoyed dinner there, and ordered the Catch of the Day. It was so fresh and well prepared.

Baywood Court was sensational. My parents lived there for at least 6 years. They were in the independent living, and the reason we had to move my dad was that there was not an opening in their assisted living. The independent living was fantastic. The food was great, the activities were top-notch and my parents had a number of different things that they enjoyed that were part of their daily program. The musical programs were always wonderful, they go on drives, they had outings to different shopping centers, they had transportation for when you want to go to the drug store of the doctor. They were just fabulous. The staff and everybody there was wonderful, and I felt that it was very good value for the money. They shared a 2-bedroom apartment, then my dad moved to a 1-bedroom apartment, they were spacious, air-conditioned and very nice. They had everything, they had swimming pool, gardens, exercise facilities and an exercise room, a beauty shop where my dad would every couple of weeks for a pedicure. They even had a little gift shop, there was a board of people that were residents and they thought of things that were reasonable so if you run out of Depends or if you want to get a gift for somebody they have that. There's also a lovely library, and there's definitely more facilities here than in the other community we moved dad to.

I visited Baywood Court. It’s really beautiful, awesome, and I just got a good feeling about it. However, it did not have an opening. The staff is the nicest lady ever. They had a nail place, a beauty salon, and I think a spa area. They had a cafe or restaurant and it was nice.

Baywood Court is non-profit and has a skilled nursing facility attached to it. It was clean and the people were friendly. They have a swimming pool and all that jazz, so it was very nice. The community fee was extremely reasonable compared to everyone else's.

Baywood Court is excellent. My mother-in-law's room is very pretty and the outside has a view. The nurse and everybody are so good. The food is good. Everything is good. They have movies, flower arrangement, all kinds of things. They have many activities every day. The staff is excellent. Some of them speak Chinese too. They have a pool. She cannot join all of the activities because she is not so healthy. She cannot eat, so they puree for her and make her salmon, which is very good. You can choose anything you want. They have nurses and nurse assistants. They bring the people in wheelchairs to play in the pool. They all sit together and the staff will help them play volleyball. They also give showers to them. They have a beautiful garden and every day they clean up.

Baywood Court looked fantastic. Everything seemed great. We were able to see a beautiful, furnished unit that looked great. The residents were very active people. Families were visiting, and kids were playing in the pool. It was fantastic.

Baywood Court and its people were very nice. The rooms were of a decent size. The staff was courteous and seemed to respond quickly to the residents' needs. Their price is comparable for the area. They could make the rooms more modern-looking; I saw a one-bedroom apartment that was dark. I know people who live there, and my friend is currently on a waiting list.

I like the layout of Baywood Court Retirement Community, the openness of the facility. I would recommend this facility.

Baywood Court’s staff was very nice and warm. We had lunch there, which was good. We only saw one room, and it looked sufficient and seemed like a clean, warm place.

Baywood Court was very clean, nice, and quiet. There were a lot of people, the dining facility was communal and cafeteria style, so 5 people would sit at the table and know each other. It was not assisted living, so it was not a good fit. The rooms were really nice and basic with a bed and a dresser. They had church on Sundays, Bingo, and movies. The staff was really nice, gave me a tour, and answered all my questions.

Baywood Court is a beautiful facility. The people are great, and the residents are super friendly. They have all sorts of programs for my mom, and it is a wonderful facility. I cannot say enough good things about it. She has a two-bedroom, one-bath apartment with a beautiful balcony overlooking the courtyard and the gazebo. They have entertainment in their gazebo, and she can sit on her balcony and watch that. She has a great size living room, two nice size bedrooms, a wonderful bathroom, a terrific kitchen, and a dining room, and it was a wonderful unit.

One of the places that we visited for a relative was Baywood. It had independent living, assisted living, and up to actual nursing care. The staff and the residents were extremely friendly, and it just seemed like a big happy family. They were really helpful too as far as making her feel comfortable about any decision that she was about to make. I had the opportunity to eat there when my mother was there because they used to have birthday dinners for the people that lived there, and the food was great.

I think they are amazing at Baywood Court. They are thorough, they stay on top of everything, their communication is excellent, and it is definitely an excellent value. I've found that you actually get a little more there for your money than some of the other places I visited. I would definitely recommend them to other people. I have already recommended them to one other family that I know, and they are now considering the facility. My grandmother is very happy with the food and the activities. In fact, if she can't make it to the activities, sometimes they bring the activity to her. She happened to miss the arts and crafts class because she had a doctor's appointment, and a couple of the staff members came in and did beading with her. They made a beaded necklace and matching bracelet, and then the same thing with the floral. She missed it because of another doctor's appointment, a couple of staff members came in, and I actually know someone that works in the facility, and she came in and took her to do another activity as an alternative. And then, she missed the therapy dog -- and that is one of her favorites -- and they brought the therapy dog to her on a different day personally for one-on-one care. They go above and beyond and actually exceeded the expectations that I had. It is very clean, well-maintained, extraordinarily safe, and well-guarded. They are really a fantastic facility.

My Grandfather was a resident at Baywood Court for just over five years. My family was very pleased with the facility and staff. The place is clean and well run, and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a retirement community in the San Francisco Bay Area I would not hesitate to recommend Baywood Court as a wonderful choice. As a guest I was always treated well, and my Grandfather never had anything bad to say about the place (which for him was rare). There are many activities for the residents, and people generally seem happy to be there. The food was decent, and there is a nice "Dining Hall" area where residents congregate and socialize. Meals were healthy, balanced and well prepared. (I even ate a few times there myself). The only reason we eventually relocated him to another facility was because he started needing 24 hour care due to early stages of schizophrenia. We felt Baywood was not the ideal place anymore under those new circumstances.

This is a friendly and supportive location with attentive, interested staff and great facilities. The meals are very good and diverse options are provided. The central court offers a great view. Laundry facilities are available at no extra charge. I feel very safe having my grandmother there. There are great activities and healthy living is promoted. She has taken advantage of these opportunities and has made good friends in the brief time she's been there. The only drawback is limited guest parking at lunchtime.
