Moved my mom into this facility recently, and the experience has been extremely pleasant. The staff are extremely well trained to handle any situation, and the administrator and managers go above and beyond to accommodate for everyone's needs. It's located next door to a hospital and across the street from my mom's dialysis center, so it is the ideal location for us. They really do operate as a family and treat my mom as such.

My mom lived here for almost 4 years. Its clean, the caregivers are caring and responsive. My mom was kept very clean, she was in a wheelchair and could not walk. They have activities suited to senoirs, the place is beautifully kept, they transport people to doctors, stores, etc. i was there everyday so I saw everything and even volunteered there. Would highly recommend for assisted living and even if the resident needs hospice.

The caretakers at Huntington are wonderful. Lovely people and very caring. Really terrific. The place is also very clean. The admin staff (reception and financial ) are very nice and lovely to work with. The meds staff is great.
However, the management is HORRIBLE. The staff seems very scared of the main administrator and her assistant. Neither of them return calls, unless they need something from you. They also do not read or reply to e mails. It is very difficult to communicate with them unless they want/need something from you. My parents lived there for several years and it was one issue after another. I had to call the Ombudsmen two times and both times it was settled in my favor. In fact, one time, the management tried to hold back money and the Ombudsmen ruled they had to pay and it came out to over $3,000.00. The did not honor the contract that I had signed with them and constantly tried to give me rent increases with no notice. They work on fear tactics that they will kick your loved ones out. They said that they were doing a remodel but it was minimal. However, the biggest insult to the tenants and staff is what they do at Christmas. They actually ask you to make your check out to the name of the main administrator and then say that they will divide the money up for the staff. They did this every year instead of having an account "Employee Holiday Fund for Huntington Retirement". That would be the safe and professional way to ask people to give holiday gifts. Personally, I gave the staff gift cards.

My wife has cerebral ataxia and as a result can no longer walk, write or speak clearly and is 70 years old. Family members and I checked out a number of facilities and the Huntington was by far the best for the price. When I first come into this facility, I was struck by the bright, clean entryway. The staff is friendly, cheerful and very helpful. The rooms are large with either patios or balconies and the food is good(I have eaten several meals there). They provide daily activities as well as planned outside excursions. I highly recommend the Huntington.

Huntington Retirement Hotel was OK, but the place I am in now has more to offer. The room was very large and the dining room was nice. They had a carnival, and the food is good.

I chose Huntington Retirement because the people are extremely caring and they have great activities. They have exercises, outings, and they bring people to the doctors. My sister is happy there. It’s an excellent place.

I cannot begin to praise the staff of the Huntington Retirement Hotel enough. My husband came to them last November and during his nine weeks he has received care beyond anything I could imagine. The staff, including Heather, Corina, Jessica...and the caregivers...and the meds nurses...and the kitchen staff...have all gone out of their way to give him care, affection and time. He needed complete care in every respect, and received it. Our family was treated like royalty every time we visited. Platters of sandwiches, fruit and coffee were offered to friends when they visited and now that he is at his last breath, a wonderful hospice - Mission Hospice - is providing 24 hour monitoring, including music therapy, a minister and even bereavement services. The Huntington on Earl Street is clean, bright and beautiful. They keep the facilities attractive and offer all kinds of activities for their residents. The prices are more than reasonable and the rooms are comfortable and roomy. This is possibly one of the best assisted living facilities in the area.

My mother was a resident at Huntington for almost five years. During that time she received the most caring and loving treatment I could ever hope for. Her room was always clean and airy and the staff went out of their way to accommodate her special needs. From the people responsible for transportation, the kitchen staff, the housekeeping staff and the caregivers, everyone worked in concert to make her residence there a very pleasant experience. What always impressed me was the way the management involved families and loved ones in the community. There are special events that bring everyone together on special occasions that mean a great deal to the residents. My mother's friends and caregivers became my friends too. Even though she has passed, I know I will continue to visit these wonderful people.

I have spent many days and evenings in this place and witnessed first hand that the compassion and sincerely caring people working at this establishment truly give their all. The residents and staff including the administrative staff have been nothing but gracious to our entire family. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place for their loved ones. The place is great !!

The administration crew here lacks real devotion.. both to it's residents and to their staff. They make such an effort to make things look a certain way when relatives are around. Not to mention how far they go to make a holiday themed party an exceptional grand gesture. That the relatives (of their residents) who don't come by to visit them much, get the impression that they are leaving their loved ones in a place that is not at all what it seems.
The administration should spend less time, money and effort trying to impress family members and more on the actual needs of its residents.
They are always under staffed. They wheel the poor residents around from room to room sometimes forgetting them for hours because the are always so short of staff.
And they are short of staff because they treat all their employees as if they are all disposable. How is anyone going to feel like part of a caring team, if no one treats them that way?!?
I do not recommend this place. Your relatives are better off living alone and left fending for them selves!
They talk about the remodeling.. yes.. they are remodeling.. but only the empty rooms.. they actually wait for a resident to die or move out before remodeling a room. They are heartless. Go check it out for yourself.. ask to see they new renovated rooms and then ask to see the rooms that are currently occupied.. money hungry - plain and simple. It is all just a business for them.

My mom lived at Huntington Retirement Hotel. The facility was very nice, they had upgraded most of the rooms and it was kept clean. She had her own room which was large enough for people to sit. The caretakers were excellent and they seemed positive, happy and always smiled. They had night staff and he came in when she rang the bell and he was happy to do it. But the food was mediocre, there could be more vegetables instead of only meat. They had activities like sing-along, but it would be better if there were more intellectual activities. Maybe in the future, they could have wi-fi in the area. Nonetheless, it was a pleasant place and she was happy.

I had a relative living at the Huntington for nearly two years and was extremly satisfied with her care until the new administrator took over. As a result of the staff cuts and the changes to the way that care is administered I felt that I had no choice but to move this relative to another facility. The caregivers do the best they can but there are just not enough caregivers for the number of residents. The warmth and care that used to make this an outstanding alternitive to living at home is gone. I would no longer recommend this facility to anyone. It was a difficult decision to relocate this relative after nearly two years but I no longer felt that they had her best interests at heart. It was no longer a home but an institution.

I have a relative living there for the past year. Originally I found the Huntington a wonderful alternative to keeping my relative at home . I felt she would do better being able to socialize. The staff was warm and friendly. Not so anymore. The new management has them fearing losing their jobs and they are overworked due to the decrease in staff. The caregivers do their job but no longer do the little extras that made the place stand out from the rest. The residents no longer seem happy or content. Has become a very depressing place to visit.

My mother has been a resident for over 2 years. This facility was outstanding until they brought in new administrators about a year ago. They have steadily gone down hill since. They went from being a warm compassionate caring home to a sterile institution. The employees are still outstanding but the management staff is slowly killing the place. About 25% of the residents have moved to other facilities in the past year.
