Brookdale will do a renovation this summer. The lady told me that they're going to do a facelift all over the place, with paint and new carpeting. The place has a lot of space available because it was only 20 percent filled. It definitely needed a facelift because it was not very cheery, but it seemed like a nice place. The people were nice, and the people that worked there were nice. They just have the usual activities; it was a small place. They had patios. I love the lady that we met with, she was very energetic, she was good, and she was very informative. She called me recently and told me that she was leaving the job, so she would no longer be there.

We had a physical tour here. Well, there are things that I like, and things that I didn't like. I like that they put the residents in what they call cottages. It's a grouping of rooms that they would call a cottage. The residents from that cottage would eat together instead of one big dining room where everybody in the complex eats. I like that they were smaller groupings of people for the meals and stuff. The facility was a little old. I didn't like the layout of the residents' rooms very much; the bed was right next to the door. They had a really nice outdoor area so I like that. The staff that I had any interaction with, they were all really nice.

It was memory care only, and the person that we spoke with was very helpful and very caring. The rooms were very tiny. They were trying to put on shows, but it's memory care, and they're not very involved in things. They had a nice outdoor area.

The Brookdale Memory Care Facility is a great place, I’m very happy we found them. My father in law can be a challenging person to help but the staff don’t take his behavior personally and they take excellent care of him. I’m so impressed with their patience and interest in each resident. They take the time to figure out what he likes and then go out of their way to get it for him. For example, the figured out that my father in law likes hockey, which I didn’t know, and now they put hockey games on especially for him. They even took him to a local baseball game with a few other residents and gave us pictures after the event, I never expected that! In addition to taking great care of my father in law, they’ve really helped us through this move. The communication between staff and my family is exceptional, I never worry about checking in on him because I know if anything is out of the ordinary they will call us right away. Visiting your family members in a memory care facility can be challenging, but Brookdale has family events just about every other week which gives us an excuse to visit and socialize with other families. The facility it’s self is very nice. It’s clean, well decorated, homey, and well maintained. The building has four wings and residents are grouped with other residents that have similar cognitive abilities. The building is well laid out and gives my father in law large areas to scoot around in his wheel chair and find people and activities he’s interested in. An added bonus is the very large outdoor area which is entirely fenced in and surrounds three sides of the building with wheelchair friendly pathways, nice landscaping, and a large patio area with tables and chairs and a gazebo. The majority of our visits end up outside enjoying the patio and watching the kids run around. As far as I can tell the food is pretty good. My father in law has no complaints and the offerings at the event’s we’ve been to have been better than I expected. Again, they’ve taken the time to figure out what he likes and make sure he’s given that option. For example he loves milk and even thought it’s not a standard beverage choice they make sure to have it for him. My father in law always has clean clothes and a clean room. He has incontinency issues and I’m fairly sure they change his sheets daily. They take care of the laundry, and assist him with showers. There is a service that comes to Brookdale for hair cuts and finger nail care. There is also a podiatrist that visits once a month for toe nail care. Once my father in law was settled in, the rest is all take care of by Brookdale. I just need to restock him with toiletries and new clothes on occasion. I have no complaints for this facility, and lots of reasons to recommend them. Good luck in your search!

The staff is very friendly and accommodating to my mother-in-law's needs. She has been on outings, participated in craft classes, and gone to parks where the residents can walk around.

I was impressed by the professionalism of the staff here. The facility is a little dated and older but nice and well kept.

I visited Brookdale. I like its openness, and I like the staff. I also like the approach to what they were doing. They don't have a lot of longevity, but they do have people that seemed like they are really into it. For the people with memory loss, there are lots of rooms to walk both indoors and outdoors. Their rooms are probably the same size as the ones at the other facility. However, I think it is a cheery place, the way they have it furnished. The nice thing is, the administration is right there to see everybody. They seemed very happy. The place is divided into four little sections, and there are 12 to 15 people in each section. Each section has its own dining room, but food comes from the central kitchen.

Brookdale is an older establishment, and their dining room was a bit smaller, but they were all great.

I just moved my mother-in-law to Brookdale in February. It is close to where I live. They're very caring, and there's good rapport between the staff and the family. She is in a private studio apartment. The food is OK. Everything is not real tasty, but they do get to choose what they want on the menu. They do have a lot of activities for the ones that are mobile. They have happy hour twice a week. They bring entertainment in twice a week. They take them out on excursions. They have games, jigsaw puzzles, a library, movies, and card games.

We have installed my wife in a community in Sacramento. A lot of things were considered, but basically the proximity to one of our daughters and her siblings, the neighborhood in which it was located, the quality of the facility itself, and their promotional declaration about how caring and dedicated is their service. They have no pool or exercise room because it is a memory care facility. Most of the activities are related to cognitive ability. She has not been there very long, and we are still having adjustments. As for the care, it seems to be about where I anticipated it. There are two things that can always be improved. One is the ratio between caregivers and residents can be much lower; in other words, more caregivers to serve the existing residents. It is simply not possible for two people to watch twenty people at a level which may or may not be necessary. The more that they are observed and engaged, the better it is. Of course the other thing is the cost can be substantially less. I recognize it is a business, so it is what it is. She has only been there for a month and a half so no real opinions have been formed yet.

I got to visit and people there seemed happy enough. I just looked at their facilities and the different sized apartments. The concierge services were superb. They try to include family into the special rooms if you want to have family dinners or something like that. I thought that was quite good, so I thought their accommodations in trying to get the family to mix in with the resident's life was good. Their library was very nice. They had art activities and trips. What impressed me the most was the concierge services, which I thought were amazing.
