I got to tour the whole facility of Meridian at Lake San Marcos, and that includes their assisted living and memory care. The assisted living portion was phenomenal. It's like a resort. My overall rating for that is a "five," but for memory care, it's a "four," because the memory care had a lot of dark hallways with little rooms -- and an ice-cream parlor with no ice cream! It's a nice facility and it's all freshly painted, but it's like living in a dark little hotel room, and I don't like the fact that there's a door leading out to a patio that you can't go out on.
The rooms that I saw in the memory care were bigger, though. I only interacted with the salesperson who worked in the memory care ward, but he wasn't able to answer some of the questions that we had. I visited there with my sister-in-law, and she's pretty good at asking some pretty pointed questions, but he still didn't have answers for them.
In memory care, there's always someone who will take the residents outside. There are little gardens and things like that, but you are locked in a separate facility, and there's no yard or anything like that; for me that's not an amenity. Other than a place to watch movies, I didn't see any other amenities.

My aunt moved into The Meridian 3 years into their independent living. From the moment she moved in, everything was amazing! Great food, friendly staff, amazing activities, and a beautiful Lake View 1bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and washer dryer! Last month, we had to transition my aunt from independent to their memory care. The meridian staff, Launa, tee, Shaun and Austin made the transition so easy. Our aunt gets amazing care and support from Tee and her staff. They do so many great activities to help with her cignition. When you’re looking for senior living care, the meridian is the place!
