The woman that took me around Cogir of Rohnert Park Senior Living was very professional. She showed me everything and answered my questions. She made a follow-up call afterward and was very helpful. She made me aware of some other concerns that I would have in transporting my mother up here from Arizona.
The layout was just a little more complex, in terms of getting from your room (depending on where you were) to the dining room. It's an older facility and I think the rooms were at the point where they needed to be upgraded or refurbished. They were clean, but they're hard floors, not carpeted. Overall, the place looked fine. It had a friendly atmosphere.

While I like Rohnert Park a lot, it was not what we needed. The lady who helped me was great. The overall experience was great. She was so friendly, and she really liked the people there. I really liked her as well. She showed me a room, she took me into the dining room, and she took me to their library. Because my mom doesn't have a diagnosis of dementia or Alzheimer's, it is possible that she could get in but it wouldn't be helpful to her because she does need help. It was a great place. The room would have been perfect for my mom. It was cozy, comfortable, and my mom could have had her dog with her. It would have been great if my mom could have done that. The dining area looked clean, neat, and attractive. The lady that I met was very friendly and helpful. I really liked her. I met some of the people who lived there and they seemed to be very happy too.

My brother-in-law is in Rohnert Park Retirement Community. It's a lovely community, and if you dont have to be in assisted living, anybody would want to live there. If you're an independent person, there are all kinds of activities, and for assisted living, they have exercise and games. His room is okay, it's a studio, it's one of their cheaper rooms, but it could be cleaner. I think the staff is good. The food is good, it's like going to a restaurant. However, we don't like that every time you sneeze they add a different charge.

This morning my dad asked me if it was as foggy today as it was yesterday. I said no. He said that was good because since it was so foggy yesterday the staff did not show up in the morning, so they were not served breakfast. He said they were supposed to have a continental breakfast (common on holidays there understandably I don't want a lot of people to have to work on holidays either) but no one set it up. He and the other early risers rifled through the dining area and found cold cereal but no milk, fruit, pastries, etc. so they ate dry, cold cereal. When they asked where breakfast was they were told no one could set it up because it was "too foggy" for staff to get there. My dad says he told them I had gotten there somehow. It was foggy, not the worst I've seen, and certainly not impenetrable.

I moved my dad in here to make sure someone keeps an eye on him. It was Merrill Gardens then, after that Emeritus, now Brookdale. The level of care over 9 years has generally deteriorated. Recently they have been doing a massive (needed) renovation. They painted all the walls - in color blocked maize, sage & pumpkin. They installed brand new low pile carpet in a retro Versace inspired gold and brown braid pattern. That was all ok, dated but needed. Then this last week they replaced all the furniture, and over the weekend they replaced all the art!!! That's hundreds of thousands of dollars of crap they bought for literally no reason. They took the chestnut colored big wood furniture out and brought in brand new walnut colored big wood furniture. And the art went from 2/10 to 3.5/10. And wasting money is whatever, except they are increasing rent 7% this year instead of the usual 6% increase AND they are currently without an Registered Nurse to supervise the CNAs because they aren't paying enough to attract a nurse AND they are down to 2 house keepers to clean hundreds of rooms AND they are short on wait staff AND they have shortened the hours of the receptionist. so stupid and wasteful

Went to my dad's this morning and found a little old lady by the elevator with no clue where she was. She asked me how to get to the first floor. I told her that was the first floor and walked her over to the lobby. She said "but there's no one there", and I explained there's no one in the dining room til 7 or at reception til 6:30. So she got upset. I found a Brookdale employee and said "there's a lady over here who is lost and needs help" and she just said to her "you know where your room is right? Second floor, 265. Just get in the elevator n go down the hall til you see your number". Crazy. I took her back to her room, opened the door, turned on the lights, and left her there. $3,000 a month they pay to live there and the employees can't even help a person back to their room. It took 5 minutes. I know they are understaffed (maybe try paying more) but really what's more important?

I am currently at Brookdale Rohnert Park, and I would not recommend them. They had problems with regards to their management and staffing. Their food is not good. I would like to see management change and the relationship between management and staffing improve.

My parents are at Brookdale Rohnert Park. We’re very satisfied with it. They have exercise, outings, movies, art classes, poker, bingo, and music. The room is spacious enough, but I’m not happy with the shower set-up in the assisted living. You have to step up, and it is a very small area.

My mother-in-law is going to be moving to Brookdale Rohnert Park. Everyone was very friendly and willing to go out of their way to show us different rooms. They have just purchased this facility, so they are improving everything over time. The dining room was very nice. They have big band concert every week, they have happy hour every Wednesday, they have bus rides to local theater, and they have all kinds of clubs. It seemed like it's a very active place. There was a large central area with a piano and a library where they have concerts and gatherings. However, the HVAC systems in the room were very old and very bulky, and they took up a lot of space. Also their controls were very low, so it would be very hard for an old person to be able to set the control because they are only like a foot from the ground.

Originally my friend was in independent living, but she broke her hip so now she is in assisted living. My son did a research on Brookdale Rohnert Park, and he just looked at various ones too and came up with them. I kept with contact with them off and on, and as far as I am concerned the service was good. The rooms there as far as one-bedroom apartments looked fine as far as I'm concerned. As for activities, they have quite a few. They have crafts, exercises, and a lot of things going every day.

We choose Brookdale for my mom because of the price, location, and the feeling of the place. The people working there are OK. The rooms are really clean, and my mother is very happy there. They have activities. I like that it has an open space with lots of natural sunlight, and the staff seems really supportive and trustworthy.

We pick Brookdale in Rohnert Park for my parent. We are extremely impressed, and the environment there doesn't have that isolated feeling. It has a very resort like feeling. The dining room is a first class dining room. People going there tend to dress nicely because of the environment. We tried the food, and it is fantastic. It is like going into a fine dining restaurant. They have line dancing to a lot of different people coming in performing music. They had a lot of physical fitness type stuff for people to be involved. They are low key, but it's just to get them motivated. What is really nice is that in about a month they are going to open up a physical fitness or therapy facility in there, so you don't have to go to a different facility for your physical therapy treatment.
Two times a month -- like yesterday -- my father-in-law jumps on their mini-bus, and they go to fishermen's warp for lunch for about three hours and comes back. They do a lot of things like that.
The apartments are beautiful. They are very well done and very private. The community is like a family. They are welcoming and always encouraging each other to participate with what is going on. They are very concerned about each other when they don't see someone for a day or two. It is very spacious. There is a lot of sitting/garden areas. It just presents itself better.

Emeritus at Rohnert Park was a pleasant-looking facility, and it’s very clean. The staff were all pleasant. They all greet you and treat you like a relative. We ate there, and the food was satisfactory. They have a very large pool. What I didn’t seem to like about them is that it's not close to any small village or city. It seemed to be a little further out than the other places.

My relative is very upset by the decline in services since new management took place. Everything from the quality of food, the housekeeping, the temperature of the common areas, the responses to calls has caused distress.

My parents are in Emeritus at Rohnert Park. We chose it because it has a large two-bedroom apartment, so my parents are together and each has their own room. My mom has a queen-size bed with a nice window overlooking pine trees and green spaces. It has a double closet and space for her desk. They are in the independent living, but they have to bring in care because my dad needs 24-hour care. I think the place is just fine, and the staff is very good. They are very friendly and helpful. My mom doesn't love the food, but she thinks it's OK. I would like to see them have some things that are a little healthier, wheat-free and organic. However, the garden and the landscaping are nice. They have a beautiful rose garden, and there are nice greens everywhere. The people are very friendly too. They have a lot of good activities. They have a big fireplace in the living room where people are always doing physical therapy activities, playing with balls or doing games, playing music together, singing or doing performances, and they bring in people from the community to do performances. So it is very nice.

The first thing we did when we visited Emeritus at Rohnert Park was eat. They have chefs there and you can order anything anytime. It's like a restaurant. They have gardens, walkways, and places that you can go. We just wanted to look at a two bedroom and two bath apartments, but they actually have many floor plans to look at. Their rooms are big. It's a modern facility and it’s impressive.
