Brookdale Paulin Creek is a large facility and while we toured it, it was a very nice facility as well. They had all the things that my mom would need for assisted living, and they were affordable, but the community itself is too large for my liking to place my mom in. The person who gave us the tour was wonderful. She was very helpful. Her name is Karen. The rooms are clean and appropriate-sized. We only looked at one-bedrooms and studios and both of them were fine for my mom's needs.
We tried their food, and it was delicious. For me, the atmosphere was a little busy because the community is rather large. I just felt there was just too much going on for my mom's needs. They had exercise classes, art classes and games, and all kinds of things that elderly adults can do in a community to socialize.

Brookdale Paulin Creek was not that well kept, and it didn't have the same vibe as the other place. The apartments were OK. I mean, it was one bedroom. They were nice. They were OK. They had a library. They had a restaurant that we checked out. I didn't get to see any of the grounds because it's kind of all indoors. The library was actually pretty nice, and they had a big grand piano in there that was pretty nice. The restaurant was OK, so it was all right.
The staff was totally unprepared and totally unprofessional. The woman that we were supposed to meet wasn't there, so they put in some helper that didn't really know anything. It was not the best, and it was actually more expensive than the other place, which I thought was funny. She showed us the room, and that was about it. She was completely unprepared for that. I don't think she even knew she was supposed to do it. We didn't really do a very good tour of that place. I didn't really get to see any activities. I would say that that place definitely needs some updating. I wasn't impressed with that place, especially for the price.
The one shining star about Brookdale was their dining room was extremely nice, and they had nice menus. Actually, there were specials for every day or they could order something off the regular menu all the time. I was actually impressed with that.

Brookdale Paulin Creek is nice. I liked it a lot. Everyone I saw was great. I mean, really good people. The person who gave us the tour was great. I liked her a lot. Her name is Megan and she was very helpful and answered our questions. We got to go look at the rooms. One thing I liked about the room was they had a balcony, it's either a balcony or a patio, depending on which floor you're on. Mom would be able to have flowers and pots, which is nice. The other thing is they have their assisted living area separate, they have the main area for independence, and then they also have Alzheimer's and dementia care areas. It's kind of nice to have it all in that same place, depending on what stage she's at.
They have four different courtyard areas, a couple of them are gardens and some of them were more like lawn sports. They have a swimming pool there too, which is great for some exercise. So I thought that was nice. They had movies, they had a really big dining room and they had a smaller dining room that was right where they have assisted care so that she wouldn't have to walk far to get to that. They do exercise classes, they have Bible studies and they have community tours where they take them out and about, and they have all kinds of ice cream soiree. They do chair exercise, things for stability, which is good. They take them on the bus and go on a scenic drive just to get them out. They have picnics and all types of things. Somebody was going to come in and do a history chat. I know they had an acrylic painting class, which I thought would be great for mom. They had a good variety of things.
We met a resident, he told us he'd been there five years and he and his wife loved it. It was nice to have people telling us how great it was. So the other thing about Pauline Creek that I liked was that when we walked around, the gal that helped us, knew everybody we saw by their name. They all said hi to her. I like that she knew people and she knew the names of all the people that we ran across, which I thought was good. I thought that it was important to me that she knew who they were.

Brookdale Paulin Creek was really nice, but it was a little too expensive for my friend. The room was nice. The staff was very polite and helpful, and the dining area looked really clean.

We went to Brookdale Paulin Creek. It is quite expensive, and too big for my mom. We weren't invited to eat there either. My mom wasn't as taken with it because they weren't friendly or organized. When we went on a tour, they had to put together a wheelchair, but they didn't have feet for it. My mom had to hold her feet up, so it was awkward for her. The rooms were bigger like suites, and there were activities. Some women were playing bridge, and there was a room with a computer and a snack bar. The staff members seemed competent, but they weren't super friendly.

Brookdale was very nice and accommodating, but it didn't offer the care we needed. It was very clean, well-kept, and up to date.

At Brookdale Paulin Creek, everything is perfect, wonderful, friendly, helpful, and caring. My mother loves her room, the food, and the people. She loves everything about it. She is in the memory care section called Claire Bridge. It is excellent. They do exercises and gather people around the table to ask them questions pertaining to their lives. They have little gatherings just for dementia care people for the ones who are able to communicate. They go on bus tours once a week. I know my mother is always busy. If my brother calls in, she goes, "Oh I got to get going because we’re doing something now." So she is always very excited about what she’s going to do next. She seems to eat everything. The things that she used to not like, she is eating now. A couple of times, I’ve eaten there myself even though I don’t normally eat in restaurants because I have allergies, but the two or three times I’ve eaten there, it has been very good. The facility is clean. My mom considers the staff her friends. The care staff and all the workers keep getting better and better. They’re very caring people.

My overall experience with Brookdale Paulin Creek was good. The rooms seemed fine. It was a little depressing having to live in a place like that, it’s tough wherein they have to live with a bunch of folks that are going through similar things. I would say that the place is probably above average, a good B. We visited their dining area but we didn't taste the food but the people eating there said it was good. They were playing games while we were there, and looked like they’re having a good time. They have a game room, a ballroom type place where they play card games.

I visited Brookdale Paulin Creek (Formerly Lodge at Paulin Creek). The staff was very nice and very helpful. She showed me the biggest room, and it was very spacious, nice, and clean. They were very informative. We didn't go out on the grounds much because they were replacing the roofs that day -- it seemed like very nice grounds though.

Lodge at Paulin Creek was a very nice place, very clean, and very bright. The staff were very pleasant and personable, and they gave me a nice tour. They had activities although they would not have been useful in my situation. When I went there, they had a choral group on CD that people were watching, and they have TV, but the room was about $7200; it was out of my price range, so I didn't go any further with them.

Facility is large and very comfortable. Staff was very pleasant and answered all of our questions. Many activities available and close to stores, medical buildings and transportation.
There was a waitlist so we continued to tour other facilities.

The Lodge at Paulin Creek is a pretty nice place. I visited this place for my wife because several senior care websites emailed me about it. I also knew about this facility because I had friends who had spent considerable time there. Their apartments are very nice depending on the size you want. I just looked at their regular one-bedroom apartments.
With regards to the staff, I met with the manager and the people upfront in the main area and they were very easy to deal with. They have activities going on for their residents. I think there was a pianist in there at the time of my visit and there were quite a few people who were watching that performance. Food they serve looks very substantial.
