I had both a virtual and in-person tour at Sunrise of West Hills. It looked wonderful. I got a full tour and I got a tour of some of the sample rooms. They're starting to open up in that neighborhood. With social distancing, the residents are eating in the dining area or in the activity area. We were a distance away, but I was able to walk and tour these common areas, which was very nice. The staff member I met was excellent. I talked with her on the phone and went on a virtual tour. Just the way she talked and explained the place, it's as if this is the person that's gonna take care of my mom. I felt that she was competent and that's why I wanted to go see the place. It's even better than what I saw on the virtual tour. It's really an excellent place. I just wish we had the funds to afford it. I didn't actually see the food, but the dining area was beautiful. They even had a little snack area where they had cookies and stuff. She even gave me a coffee and a scone while we're talking and that scone was delicious. The residents seemed pretty happy and they waved and said hello. One thing that was interesting was in the hallway they had areas with a baby doll and a crib. When the memory care person kind of goes back to previous times, sometimes they think about the baby, so they have these dolls and different settings where they can kind of relive or revisit those things. The facility looked brand new, but they said they remodeled it.

We're considering Sunrise of West Hills for my in-laws because it's close and they didn't have any license violations. The community was nice, but I wasn't impressed with the room-bedroom situation. They weren't as nice as where my in-laws are right now, but the care seemed really good and the price seemed reasonable at Sunrise of West Hills. The staff was awesome. They take care of all the medications. There were people sitting around in their family room, but I didn't see any activity going on. Dining there was family style. It's a really clean facility.

Sunrise of West Hills is great. I don't love the nurse, but everybody else is fabulous. They have caring staff, from the employees to the administrators. They answer my questions with patience and kindness. They're very thorough and attentive to my uncle. It's a beautiful facility. I've seen them doing activities all the time, but he doesn't participate as much as I'd like.
