My dad has been in Jasmin Terrace at Bakersfield for a little over a year now. The people are nice. The director is incredible. The staff is incredible. It's an older facility. A couple of times that I've been there, I'll go into his bathroom, and as soon as I go into the bathroom and turn the light on, there would be small baby roaches on the sink area running away. I'm paying $2500 a month for him to live there, and I don't like that.
It's an older facility, it's not modern and the rooms are kind of like a dorm. I had to put a lot of stuff in there to make it feel like a home to him. I went there one day, and they were having bingo inside the cafeteria. They try to keep the clients engaged as much as possible. They have little exercise class, just little easy things to do. They try to help them as much as they can with the ones that can't participate. However, I have seen bugs in my dad's room and his bathroom on multiple occasions.
My dad loves their food. He said the food is excellent there. They also feed him a lot.

The staff at Four Seasons was really good, helpful, and informative. It’s a nice cozy place, not crowded, and not very big. It seems pretty nice. The set up is really nice. They play a lot of bingo and movies.

Four Seasons used to be Redwood Village. I visited this one, and actually I knew the lady who was one of the overseers of the nurses there. She was very good. I just decided to take my mom to Oklahoma, so I disregarded it. The staff seemed to be good. The safety of it is probably not quite as good. The security I would put it at about a three. They also have bible studies on Wednesday and church activities. They have a Bring Your Own sewing crafts type of stuff. It was a little bit limited on the activities. They have two to a room in some of them, and then they have a single room in some. It is not updated, and it is an older facility. The dining area is not too modern. It is not as nice as the other community I visited. It is just a simple little floor with chairs and tables. As for activities, all I saw was them putting puzzles together and watching TV. I feel like the overseers -- the owner and the lady that works right under her -- are really trying to improve the place, and they really care. It is newly took over, and I don't know how long they have actually been there.

I visited Redwood Village Inn one time before I contacted anyone. We did not receive a call from them. My sister-in-law and I just dropped in just to see what type of facility it was. It seems very disorganize. I believe they have new owners. It seems like a different type of atmosphere from what we were looking for our mom. I wouldn't even consider it. I think it's a new ownership and hopefully they've made some corrections or changes.
