We visited Silverado Sierra Vista. I liked some things about it, but it was very expensive. I didn't really love the rooms very much there. The facility seems nice, and they seem to have a lot of activities. The person who gave the tour was very knowledgeable, and she did a good job. It was the rooms that I thought were very dark, and they didn't feel very welcoming.

Silverado Sierra Vista was outstanding and was a big facility. The grounds were exquisite. You feel like you're in a tropical paradise. I was able to see groups of people working with an employee. Some were exercising, they had a pool, a Jacuzzi, and extensive grounds. They also have three dogs there. The only drawback was all the rooms were double rooms and I thought my husband would do much better in a private room, but it was an excellent facility. The person who toured us was marvelous. Our son even went and took a tour the following day, and got to experience what they had to offer. The chef brought us a little box with some desserts and they were very good. So, I think the food would be excellent. Also, a friend of mine had her father-in -aw there and she raved about it for years. So, I went on recommendation from somebody. The interaction between employees and the residents was just very warm and very friendly. Everybody was called by name and I had a very positive feeling about the place. I saw somebody getting their haircut and some on exercycles, out on a patio pedaling away. There was a lot of activity going on and people weren't sitting around, but they were engaged.

My husband is at Silverado Sierra Vista. I can't tell you much because I cannot get in. I could only see him from outside on the patio when I got to visit. He is not very verbal. I think he is getting good care; he looks like he is. He said they feed him a lot. He had his vaccine shot yesterday. They are good about letting me know things. They let me know he had the shot because he declined it the first time they offered it. If I call him or when I talk to him and they're getting him cleaned up for dinner, they will say we will have him call you back, and they always do call me back. When I visit, we're outside on the patio; he is about three feet on one side of the fence, and I am three feet away on the other side. He is hard of hearing so there is a caregiver when he is out there in case he can't hear me. I hand her things to give him. The place is very well kept. It looks like it has been landscaped for spring with spring flowers. Trees were blooming, and everything was clean on the outside. I went in the lobby to sign in, and there were fresh flowers around. It is a very nice setting. They have pet dogs there. They always call me back to answer questions. I would say they're expensive. The place looks like a home.

Silverado Sierra Vista was all memory care. My tour was good. I liked it, but there were no private rooms available and it needed redecorating. It looked a little rundown, but it was not dirty. There were some carpets in some halls that looked pretty bad. The staff answered all of our questions well. They were playing a card game in the dining room and everybody seemed to be involved with one another and enjoying themselves. The room we saw had very small closets.

Silverado Sierra Vista is a great community. They're fantastic and I would highly recommend them. The rooms are very comfortable, homey, and of course they allow you to bring anything you want to make it feel homey. They allow the pets to stay with the residents and they help take care of them. They do a really super job. The dining setup is very nice and they allow the family to come and eat with their loved ones.

My wife lives at the Silverado Sierra Vista. She's been getting good 24-hour care. It's a good facility. It's just a little expensive. Most of the staff members are very good. Their food is excellent. She doesn't participate very often, but they have a lot of nice activities every day. The layout is good. It is clean and they do a good job. I don't feel uncomfortable there. It's a very good facility.

Silverado Sierra Vista is a beautiful place but expensive. We chose it because my wife has dementia that is combative, and there are very few homes that are going to take that type of situation. They have two parts in the community: one where people are still able to function at a fairly high level, and one where they lost a lot of their abilities to do things. There are two patients to a room. The rooms are nice. You could walk right through the shower. Of course, it has to be a lock facility but the patients can roam around except through the final door at the end. They even have a few animals, like little dogs. There are a lot of activities. We went over all my wife's medications. They spent some time with me alleviating the problems. We can visit anytime and even eat with her. There's all kinds of things that make it very attractive.

I placed my husband in Silverado Sierra Vista. They did the best they could as he was a little bit of a difficult patient at times. It was a nice facility. Looking back on it, I wished I had brought him home with a hospice care rather than placed him in a facility because he really was at the point where he needed more one-on-one care than they were able to give him in that type of location. I think it is a great facility for people with dementia if they are still capable of getting around and participating in some of the activities. The staff was very nice and kind, but I think my husband needed more care than they were equipped to give.

We chose Silverado Sierra Vista. Both of my parents would be sharing a room there. The staff was outstanding. When we were there, they were working on a craft. We did not have a meal there, but we saw the dining area, which very nice and restaurant-style.

The Silverado in Azusa is comparable to the one in Alhambra -- excellent staff, very enthusiastic, and very positive. The only difference is the facilities in this place are newer, so it had a little more newness to it, and they were also more open because of the property's location. They just have more room, and it is also a larger facility. The dining room was very nice, and they seem to be able to cater to everyone's personal taste. You can get whatever you want to eat; it is not institutional kind of food.

Silverado was truly outstanding, but it was too pricey for our relative. Everything impressed us -- the food, the staff, the activities, the facility, the site, and the amenities. They were really nice. The staff was very professional. I thought they were fully educated with the degrees and very knowledgeable. I would recommend them to others if it was in their price range.

I think they have too many patients per caregiver for a place like that and what disturbs me the most about Silverado is that my daughter does not have dementia or Alzheimer’s. She has a brain injury, and she’s been having seizures; before that she could talk almost as well as you and me. For a while she had short term memory, and it was getting better and better until she started having the seizures. Now she cannot communicate as well to be able to tell us really what’s going on with her. It’s a very pretty and clean place. Actually all the people that I talked to that worked there seemed to be nice. A lot of times when I call, a lot of people don’t even know who she is -- and she’s been there for a few years -- I was surprised. They have activities like playing cards and different kind of games, they could work at the garden or something outside, but they have to go to the other section. There are two buildings and the building that she’s in, that’s where people with more severe dementia and Alzheimer’s are; in the other section they’re not as severe. I keep telling them I want her to go to the other section so she could be more involved and she’s been only there a few times; that really kind of upset me. They put her there because there was an opening. I’m giving them a low rating because first of all, the major reason I have is because my daughter doesn’t belong there in Silverado. That is a wrong place for her period. It belongs to people who have other problems besides dementia and Alzheimer’s -- like they can’t walk because they have something paralyzing their back -- whereas my daughter can’t walk because people aren’t walking with her and they’re not giving her the physical therapy and setting it up like they're supposed to. It's more like an institution than a home.

My mother is living in Silverado Senior right now. I chose this facility for her and I'm very happy. They have both Alzheimer's and dementia units and they also provide nursing help. Many Alzheimer's and dementia facilities do not offer nursing help. We were turned away by some of them because they don't have nursing capabilities. And many assisted living facilities wouldn't take my mom because she has both Alzheimer's and dementia. But Silverado offered me those. My mother is very comfortable and everything is doing great.

How hard is it to find a quality, comfortable, safe place when you live far from the most important person in your life? It can be difficult, but the Silverado will help you all the way! I was recently in this situation after my father passed away and my mother couldn't be alone. As other reviewers have said, the Silverado is beautiful, staff friendly, caregivers well-trained and truly caring, lots of activities and active residents, but what I want to emphasize is their attention to the whole family. In this difficult transition, the staff is giving emotional support to our family 24/7. We feel like they are part of our extended family, and that is priceless!

I went to check out this assisted living facility for my mom. All in all, it seemed like a great place. The only problem was the area. The city which it is located in is pretty run down in parts compared to its surrounding cities and I did some research online where I learned that there is somewhat of a high crime rate. With that aside, it was a pet friendly place which I think is fabulous! The site is well maintained and there were a lot of staff, all of whom were very friendly. In addition, it seemed as though there were a lot of social activities for the residents which is, of course, very important.
