Richman Gardens was very old and had three separate buildings without covered walkways connecting them, so you have to walk in the rain to go to the dining hall. It’s also very crowded with two people to a room, and the price isn’t any cheaper. The people are pretty friendly, though.

My mother was at Richman Gardens in Fullerton for over 3 years and has just past away at the age of 88. She had dementia, COPD, and heart problems. I can't say enough about this facility, the workers were always friendly and very helpful and always gave my mother the best care possible even if she didn't want it. They always called me right away if something wasn't right about my mom and I trusted them with my mom. She loved the place and wasn't scared there at all. The place is small only 26 beds but that is exactly what I liked about it! The gardens are amazing and very relaxing.
Sincerely
Linda W.

I visited this facility for a tour. It is a secured, Alzheimer's/Dementia facility and the lock is on the gate facing the front yard. If a resdient trys to open the gate, the alarm will go off. It is not a wander guard facility.
This was originally a private home that was purchased by a private company for assisted living/Alzheimer's care. It is located on a nice, quiet, private street in a safe neighborhood. The exterior is inviting, with a rose garden in the front and roses in surrounding gardens in the courtyard. The resident's seem well card for and happy. I observed a dining room experience and they were all raving about the homemade food. They have alot of private rooms and private suites. The care is individualized and the staff seem very dedicated to the resident's. I would consider this facility for a loved one. The downside would be that they take some resident's who are very ill and in active.

On a visit to this facility for a school project, I came to learn that Richman Gardens is composed of 4 lots which have been converted into a RCFE. The home-like atmosphere along with the "go-getter" attitude of the Executive Director have allowed for Richman Gardens to stand out in the city of Fullerton. During my visit, I met with a family whose loved one has been residing in Richman Gardens for 3 years. The family members enjoy the reminiscent feeling of the home. They stated that a calm, peaceful environment makes all the difference when it comes to selecting an alternate form of housing. In the case of their loved one, she was a homemaker and is pleased with being able to water the garden. This place is very cozy and welcoming. It provided with a clearer perspective on how a small memory care community can flourish.
