I've toured Atria Tamalpais Creek twice. The salesperson was wonderful. He was a good listener. He showed me what I was interested in and didn't show me any extra kinds of things. The people there were very friendly. As I walked around, the care director chatted with me, and I got to meet some of the employees. The most impressive part for me was that their employees on their name badges have how many years they worked there, and most of them it was 6, 7, 16 years, so they keep their help around, which is important to me.
They had numerous different floorplans to look at, which was nice, and that's why I went through twice because it takes a couple of times to get a feel for exactly what my mom might prefer. The rooms were very nice and clean. The facility is very nice. It has a lovely fitness room. The dining room was very nice. They have a hair salon. The staff kind of showed us around all the different rooms, and it was very nice. As far as the resident accommodations, the apartments are very nice, too. There are lots of choices and sizes.
Their activity schedule is amazing. They have a lot of mind and body kinds of activities available all the time for the residents. There are exercise classes, and they always have a person leading them. They probably have two or three different choices of exercise each day, which is very nice. They have a beautiful library. Their beauty salon is very large. I talked to the gal in there, who was cutting hair, she was very nice. The amenities were very nice.

I was at Atria Tamalpais Creek for a month for respite to rehab my broken clavicle. It was a great place. They had lots of activities. Everybody ate meals together and everybody knew everybody. There was good rapport between the residents, and there was also a good relationship with the staff who was outstanding, very pleasant, and very nice. They were running that place right. Everybody from the people who served the food up to people who had the prestigious jobs and even the head custodian were very pleasant. You can't walk around that place without every staff member saying hi to you.

My mom is in Atria. It was nice, it looks pretty good, and it's reasonable. The food is really good. They have a rec room and restaurants.

The one that I liked the best was Atria Tamalpais Creek. It looked very nice. The people seemed happy, very pleasant, and helpful. They had some small apartments and a good variety of things to do. Physically, the community was very nice, and the people were friendly. The person who took me around was someone who had been a cook in a very known restaurant in Napa Valley.

Everything was beautiful at Atria Tamalpais Creek. I visited the community. The food and dining program were great. The people were friendly. It was wonderful but too expensive. They had activities. The residents looked very happy.

I liked the largeness of Atria Tamalpais Creek; I didn’t feel like I was getting lost. It didn’t have a swimming pool, so I was kind of disappointed, but it was truly beautiful. I toured it a couple of times, and I was at their Easter brunch; the food was awesome. The staff and services are awesome. It had two dining rooms with comfy chairs. They had a sit down volleyball game stretched across the library, which was really interesting and really cute. I think they had arts classes and beauty shops. It had a lot of parking but you don’t get your own space; I’m not yippy skippy about that. It’s very homey, too.

Atria Tamalpais Creek was very nice in a good location. I spent maybe an hour there and had lunch; the food was excellent. They gave me a choice of a number of things to taste, and I was very impressed. They were very nice and very accommodating. The price was a bit higher priced than the other place I visited. They showed me several different rooms. They had studios, one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms that were very accommodating, very nice, and very well laid out.

The staff was fantastic and really welcoming. They gave me a great tour. They showed me every part of the facility from the assisted living to the memory care facility, the dining rooms, the gyms, the spas, and the massage rooms. Atria Tamalpais Creek was a really beautiful facility, but we didn't go with that one because of the location. If I did have a choice, she would've gone there. The rooms were beautiful, nicely groomed, with walk-in closets and their own bathroom, refrigerator, and sink. It was clean and well set up -- just very nice. I didn't eat there, but when I left, they gave us a pie that they had baked, which was very good. Their dining facility was huge, which looked almost like a banquet room, and you can go in there and eat whenever you want to, not at set hours. If you want breakfast later, you can have it later. They'll just serve whatever you want. They have a real nice bistro where you can eat whenever you want. It's senior living, assisted living, and memory care. They're near downtown, and it's walking distance to the restaurants. They have all kinds of excursions in San Francisco. They have bus trips and arts and crafts, and they have a huge grand piano in the living room. Every single part of that community just took my breath away.

Atria Tamalpais Creek have been very good and accommodating. The apartments were quite nice. It was all newly renovated in 2011, so it is a green building, and everything looks good. It is much brighter and cheerier than other places that we have seen. I have tried eating there, and the food was OK. The dining room setup is nice, and they have a separate bistro as well. They do scenic drives, they go shopping, and they go to museums. They have quite a few activities. At this point, there is nothing to suggest for improvement since we've only been there for a few weeks. We liked it, and we have a good experience. My parents are now living there.

Atria Tamalpais Creek was a beautiful facility. The staff were excellent in showing us around and explaining all their amenities. I saw studios, and they were very clean with new carpets, fresh paint, a nice little kitchenette area, a big closet, and a nice bathroom. It was the nicest one we visited. The dining area was beautiful, and you could eat whenever you wanted. They had a movie theater, a little bistro, a craft room, and tours.

So far, we really like Atria Tamalpais Creek. They have good food, and they have two different food areas, which my mother enjoys. She has a little private room with a kitchenette and a big bathroom, and it's a nice area. They show really good movies in big movie screens -- which are almost the size of a theater screen -- so it's huge, and my mother likes that. They also play penny cards and bingo and lots of different activities, and they go out on Wednesdays and Sundays. The surroundings are beautiful, it's very green, there are lots of trees, and it is always clean.

Atria Tamalpias is a very pleasant place. It's an upscale facility, but it's too expensive for our money. All the rooms are apparently upgraded. We did see one room, and it was furnished with very attractive furniture. With their food, they give you a menu, and you choose from there. They have a place outside the dining room where they offer cookies, cakes, and coffee for the residents. They have an onsite gym and pool.

While it is a beautiful building. Food was great. Not enough staff caregiving. Several times I went to visit Mom and her emergency button was inside her shirt. Mom was not capable of putting button inside her shirt. Out of sight out of mind. To many clients not enough staff. Moved Mom to Sunrise in Petaluma. They get 5 stars.

Dad has been in Atria Tamalpais Creek for two months now. We chose it because of its location, and it is one of the best facilities I have seen. The staff is very friendly and seems to be very experienced. They care a lot about him. I like the ratio of staff to residents. They have a small number of people for every staff member. I have eaten there at every meal, and the food is excellent. The rooms that I see are individual. They have their own room, which is very clean, new, and very nice. They have activities in the memory unit, like lectures in the arts, they do tai chi, they go on field trips, and it's very nice.

Atria was very nice and had a lounge feeling to it. They just remodeled the apartments and it feels a little bit like a hotel but nice. The one bedroom feels bigger because they had cathedral ceilings. They have a restaurant which is open and a bistro where people from the outside can come and have lunch or dinner.

Atria seemed to be fairly ordinary. I didn't see anything special about it. We did have lunch there and it was quite nice and pleasant. Nothing to write home about.

At first Atria at Tamalpais Creek seemed to be a great place for my Dad. Nice people working there, good food, beautiful surroundings, relaxed and not crowded. The sales person who we were talking to about my dad moving in sounded interested in his wellbeing both socially and physically. Immediately after he moved in, she evaded questions about the facility, I.E. basic questions about his medication management, services provided, special dietary needs and how they could be met, general questions about the facility, and treated my family "rudely".
After a few months my Dad's needs increased, and we began paying for higher levels of care. It quickly became painfully obvious that Atria was incapable of assessing his increasing needs and reacting to those changes. It routinely takes over 10 minutes for them to respond when he pushes the call button to request assistance. In case of an actual emergency, that could be the difference between life and death.
Unfortunately, because of their incompetence at Atria, we are moving my Dad after only 6 months to another facility nearby that charges less and provides a higher level of care.
As an assisted living facility that provides 3 squares and a cot, Atria at Tamalpais Creek is fine. If you are hoping for more, go elsewhere.

On the positive side, the grounds are beautiful, clean and quite lovely. The food is great and the activities offered are also sufficient. However--the care for my father, who currently lives there--is totally deficient, despite the $2100.00 above and beyond the almost $5,000.00 rental for his tiny studio apartment. We are paying for a variety of increased needs since his recent hospitalization, and on top of paying Atria, we are paying $200.00 a day to an outside caregiver to come in and make sure my father is getting what he needs. By all accounts--from the Kaiser Physical Therapist, Kaiser Nurse, Kaiser Social Worker and Kaiser OT, not to mention the testimonies of the in-home care layer that we are paying extra for--Atria is a disaster. My father pushes his button and no one comes. He pushes again--nothing. 20 minutes or more...nothing. A meeting with the Executive Director resulted in many apologies, acceptance of responsibility for not fulfilling duties...and yet, once again this week...the SAME. We are now actively looking for a place that actually does what it says it will do. My take is that Atria is cutting costs by not having sufficient staff. We are documenting all the breaches in service and will be taking steps soon.

PROS: Most of the staff are pleasant all the time
CON: Most are not trained to care for aging residents who invariably require more care the longer they reside there
CON: Training is brief, at the onset of being hired.
CON: Frequently understaffed for the number of residents.
PROS: Building and grounds are clean
CONS: Frequent staff turnover
PROS: Lots of activities available for residents (shopping, movies, drive, art shows, art classes, exercise, games, etc)
CONS: Additional fees above base adds up quickly. Review bill each month for hidden charges.
