I personally like Sakura Gardens of Los Angeles. My friend kind of likes it, but the sister-in-law is domineering, so she has to have the last say so. The sister-in-law didn't like it. She said it's too structured and she is afraid of the elevator. She said there's an elevator, and my friend will get confused in the elevator.
There was confusion with the manager at first because there was a miscommunication as to the appointment time, so we ended up being toured by one of the nurses. She was very thorough. We went to one of the rooms and I like it. My friend seemed to like it also, but she was quiet all this time. The sister-in-law was the one asking most of the questions. When we came down, she showed us the recreation area. It was closed at the time. When we were outside of the building, she told us about the koi pond and the community garden. There were a lot of benches all over the place, and that's one thing I like. I also like that there's a security guard and that it's very secure. The area outside is not that nice, and it's not a very safe area, but since there is the security gate and the security guard, the residents will feel safe there. The facility is very clean, too.

Our Aunt is staying at Sakura Gardens for a few months now and we are really happy that she is able to live in a clean and safe home. Everyone at Sakura Gardens is very helpful, friendly and attentive to our Aunts needs. She enjoys daily exercise classes and an occasional movie. The grounds are well kept with a Koi pond and a turtle that likes to hang out on the rocks. Her father stayed there many years ago and we remembered how well he was taken care of. We are grateful for the amazing care that they provide at Sakura Gardens.

Our mom has been living at Sakura Gardens since June 2021. It is comforting for us (her family) to know she can communicate to the staff and caretakers in Japanese for all her needs. She has also made many friends that speak Japanese too. She enjoys going to exercise classes, and origami classes. It is clean, quiet and the food is good! Everyone is very nice there!
Overall, she is very happy living there!
Thank you Sakura Gardens!

Our mother has only been at Sakura Gardens for 4 months but seems to be thriving there. She’s made many friends and seems to be feeling more and more comfortable each time we visit her. The staff have all been very accommodating with her requests. It best part is that she feels that she is part of a community at Sakura Gardens.

My mother has been at this facility for almost three years. She is 92 years old, and recently the Sakura Gardens celebrated residents over 90 years and older. There were few residents over 100 years old.
She is pleased with the facility and the overall value she gets from being a resident there. She loves her ceramic class and is very proud of the many pottery products she made. To me, the number one value is the staff. They have a fantastic team starting with Daniel, Shin, Marylou and trickles down to everyone else working there. Daniel did a great job communicating information when Covid was peaking in LA county and athereafter. He still does an excellent job getting the word out about the boosts, flu shots, visitation and activities. I was delighted to see the majority of the resident got vaccinated early on after the vaccine got emergency authorization. I cannot say enough of Shin and the help he extends to my mother. Marylou and her staff are most helpful with my mother's needs and wants. Overall I feel very comfortable with my mom being a resident at Sakura Gardens since I know she gets constant attention and care.

Our parents have been at Sakura for almost a year, and their overall experience has been very positive. The facilities are nice and clean, and, more importantly, our parents are content and doing as well as can be expected.
We have found Daniel, Shin, and the rest of the staff to be responsive, attentive, and proactive. This has been particularly true as to one of our parents, who needs assistance from staff with some activities of daily living. We have also been impressed with the job they have done navigating the pandemic and arranging for residents to receive the appropriate vaccines. Needless to say, we worry about our parents constantly, but we worry about them less since they moved to Sakura.

Absolutely exceeds all of our expectations. Shin, the Communications Director, could not have been more cordial, more professional or more considerate in greeting my now 100 year old mother-in-law, Yoshi, and my wife and I on our first visit and many subsequent visits to Sakura Gardens. We very much appreciated his guided tour of the facility and our luncheon on that first visit which was three years ago. All of our questions were answered while he spent considerable time with us. He introduced us to Daniel, who also was beyond impressive, and one or two of the other residents at Sakura. These gentlemen obviously care very much about their residents. The furnished apartments are very comfortable. Housekeeping and front desk staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The overall services and amenities provided including the excellent three meals per day greatly assisted in facilitating this significant transition - major life style change. Yoshi, who just turned 100 three months ago, has seriously enjoyed her three year stay at Sakura. She loves her very comfortable apartment and continually talks about the delicious food and the many services and activities provided. The management team and staff has certainly protected all residents during the pandemic. Shin is an incredibly understanding person who really cares about all residents at Sakura. He also happens to be a major gentleman and a really nice guy. My wife and I feel extremely fortunate to have found such an excellent community. Huge accolades, appreciation and many thanks to Shin, Daniel, their staff, and Sakura for making Yoshi's three year stay so comfortable and successful. Keith and Mari

Sakura Gardens does a fantastic job for my 92 year old Nisei mother. They serve Japanese food which she especially likes. They have daily exercise classes that gets her out of the room and areas where she can walk on her own when she feels like it. I myself love the 24 hour on duty nurse which makes me sleep better at night.

My mother is in Sakura Gardens of Los Angeles. She speaks only Japanese and the nice thing is they have Japanese-speaking caregivers and Japanese cuisine. They can select either continental or Japanese cuisine. All staff and residents are vaccinated and strict protocols are in place. They have a lot of activities and volunteers from the Japanese community come out and do things in Japanese for them, such as daily exercise, karaoke, movies and small bands. They have beautiful gardens, a huge koi pond, waterfalls, rock sculptures, and bonsai trees within the grounds. All the staff are incredible and they do everything to help the residents. They've just remodeled everything, and it's a very reasonably priced. AWESOME

While COVID has made it challenging for all of us, they do a great job of making sure everyone is safe and healthy while showing us what they can. Answered all of our questions.

My mother is in Sakura Gardens of Los Angeles. My parents are Japanese and the nice thing is they have Japanese-speaking caregivers and the food served is a selection of continental and Japanese cuisine. They can select what they want to eat. No resident got COVID in the past four months, so I think the safety is great. They have a lot of activities and volunteers from the Japanese community come out and do things in Japanese for them. They have beautiful gardens, a huge koi pond, waterfalls, rock sculptures, and bonsai trees within the grounds. However, a new owner took over, and they've been increasing the rent. The elevators are not working all the time, and the air conditioning breaks down once in a while. The staff is incredible and they do everything to help the residents. They've just remodelled everything, and it's very affordable.

While evaluating Sakura, Shin and Daniel made my mom and myself feel very comfortable that she would be well cared for. There was transparency and all our questions answered honestly. After being there for about a month, she confirmed that our trust was well founded. She is enjoying her stay and feels part of the community.

Sakura Gardens is a clean and well run Senior Retirement Community. The staff is very helpful and provides excellent care for the residents. There are many social activities, excursions, classes, and special performances that provide the residents with a lot of options to keep active. There is also a "resident" garden, where you can request some space and plant flowers or vegetables. Our Mother took an excellent tour, and decided to move from another care home to Sakura Gardens. She's really been enjoying her stay!

My Mom has been living at Sakura Gardens for a few months now and she really enjoys living there. The Staff has been very helpful. She has been able to make a few friends. There are activities for her to attend. The facility has plenty of space for her to walk around safely. The location is very convenient for me to visit.

We chose Sakura Gardens for my father because it has a Japanese community, they serve food that my father enjoys, and they have a memory care unit. They have all kinds of activities, too. They have exercise classes and entertainment. They have furnished apartments so we don't even have to bring anything.
