My dad is at The Hacienda At The River, and they've actually been very attentive. They've really worked hard to try and find what he needs and adjust to him. The nurses have been wonderful. You can tell that they are trying to get to know him and learn his routine in the way he likes to do things. They've kept me very up to date as he's been going through a little bit of an adjustment. They don't take kids during the visit as well because of the restrictions that are still on for kids, but it's been very good.
They had really walked me through each step of the way, and they're going above and beyond to make my dad comfortable. From what I can tell, he is happy with the food, and he's been enjoying it immensely. They actually reached out to me to make sure they knew his particular likes and dislikes and not just allergies.
The facility has been very clean, very homelike, and just comfortable. They have separate courtyards for the different areas, and you can tell that they've all been taking care of it. They have tried really, really hard about the activities -- it's just that some of them have been on hold, but they're trying to think outside the box with what they're able to do. With the price of their memory care and all the things he's getting, it is just about on par with every other place that we looked at that offers the same amenities.

The Hacienda at The River is very new and huge. There's a barn nearby and the people who own the horses bring them over to the memory care unit for equine therapy. The model room was beautifully decorated. They put a code on each room so my dad is struggling with being locked in. It's very beautiful and full of light. He said the food is good. The staff just needs a little more experience. They have a great range of activities. They offer their residents -- especially at the assisted living level -- all kinds of outings, sports, theater, and transportation. It's a very lively place for older people. I was really impressed with the physical therapy, equine therapy, and occupational therapy. They are really good at helping him. He was in skilled nursing there as well, but they weren't communicating well. They're just finding their way and are new at it. They are not seeing what each client, especially at memory care level, needs. The assisted living and the skilled nursing staff needs help.
