I’ve been told by doctors’ offices that all these home health care agencies are incompetent
and terrible to work with. In regards to Preferred Homecare, that’s an understatement. To be fair, I have little complaint against the people who brought my machines and accessories like tubes to my house, although they never agreed with each other on care and replacement schedules of the equipment. When I’d had my last nerve scorched, I told them to come get their damned machine—-they failed to pick it up even when they gave us a day and time window. Of course, they kept their meter running.
My fury is at the billing departments who are unprofessional, lazy, and non-responsive. They sent incorrect bills, untimely, as in skipped, bills, and threats to report me for non-payment, payments which I never neglected to pay. I had to dispute bills repeatedly. At the end, they submitted a totally different amount from what I had been paying. They COULD not or WOULD not tell me what that charge was for! When I demanded an itemized statement, they simply changed the format of the bill. They never provided the information I asked for.
I’ll tell anybody who would ask me that s/he should stay away from Preferred Homecare, a misnomer if ever there were one.

Received the worst service from Preferred. Needed oxygen, they set up an appointment and said I needed to be at home from 9am to 5 pm. They would not guarantee a delivery time...guess what ..nobody showed. I waited a week and Preferred did not bother to call to reschedule. When I finally called they said I live in Phoenix and needed to call Phoenix...I pointed out that I live in Tucson...at which point they corrected me telling me they didn't come out because I live in Phx.......I again pointed out that I live near Marana high school but I am positive I have a Tucson address......after 5 minutes of her checking she agreed I live in Tucson and because of the pandemic they cannot guarantee when they could come out.....I would need to be at home from 9am until 9pm and they would attempt to make a delivery........ The Tucson branch of Preferred Health care is not worth doing business with......

I hate to give a negative review but in this case it is necessary. I was my mother's primary caregiver and towards the end of her dementia journey, I felt as though I needed help with her care. Long story short, after the intake process and assurance that I would have someone qualified, I was shocked by who showed up at my door to do care. She was late, said they gave her wrong directions, she smelled like cigarette smoke so badly that I almost didn't let her in ( I have asthma), she had no mask, during this time of the COvID virus, she didn't know she needed one. I showed her into mother's room and told her mom needed a bed bath and her cathereter bag emptied. She told me she didn't know how to empty the bag even though she is a CNA. Unbelievable! She was done with the bed bath in record time and when I went into mother's room and saw her I was livid. She was laying crooked in bed with the draw sheet wrinkled and scrunched beneath her. I told her this was not acceptable. I had to show her what to do and then repositioned mother. She then asked what else she could do for me and I said not a thing. I told her she was free to go. Then I called the office. They apologized profusely and offered to send someone else the next day. I declined because by then I had my own help secured. That was on a Tuesday and mother died on Friday. Not a good experience

Had to report these people to the Arizona Attorney General's office for insurance fraud. They contracted with an 89 year old claiming they had her insurance company's approvals for their plan of care. Only they had never contacted the insurance company and only produced and sent a plan of care to the insurance company after we terminated the contract. They fabricated invoices for services that were never performed. Staff had no experience in home care, received no training to even understand how to submit their log of activities, and had no protective equipment or any instruction on how to protect their elderly charges from exposure to COVID-19. Our AZ Attorney General complaint is proceeding.
