I liked the size of Brookdale East Tucson. It was smaller, and it just had 47 rooms. The staff was great. They weren't pushy, and they gave me a lot of information. They were really good. From what I could see, everything looked fine. Due to the virus, everything was just so different, but they're trying.

We really like Brookdale East Tucson. It's really nice. They're very friendly, they communicate a lot and they're really nice. My dad's apartment is very functional, and the window is very large, so it's very bright in there. It's great, it's the perfect size for him. We were worried that we couldn't get pictures on the walls, but it turns out that we have room for more, so it's bigger than we thought it was gonna be. He seems to really enjoy the meals and he likes the variety. The staff is amazing. There's a few things that could be done, but overall it's really good. It's going to be expensive no matter what, but he needs the care, and it's worth the money. It was the friendliness of the director that really won us over when we went to this place.

I really like that there are such a good people around to help us all day. The exercise program is really good.

The best part of my day is breakfast with everyone then the exercise class we do daily. We stay healthy eating all the good food. It’s nice that there are always people around to help us all day.

The staff are wonderful. Most of the residents enjoy bingo which is practically everyday. Whenever I come to visit my great grandma the staff come to the door with a warm smile on their face.

A very good facility. They seem to truly care about their residents and are happy to help in any way.
The food is excellent and nutritious.
The residents get activities every day and are afforded transportation for shopping.
The facility is not over crowded so the residents get more individual attention if needed.

Brookdale East has been my mother's place of residence for the last year. She has short term memory issues and is 98 years old. We moved her to Brookdale East given her condition. The caregivers and staff at Brookdale East have been very very good to my mother and have taken great care of her. It seems to be the best environment for her at this stage of her mental and physical life. What I like is the fact she is helped with all of the necessities, bathing, dressing, medication and things to do. But most important to me is how the staff / caregivers treat her. And all of them have done an excellent job of taking care of her.
I am not sure how Brookdale East screens their caregivers but the ones that I have interacted with have been some of the most caring and knowledgeable that I have ever met. Brookdale East should be commended for their care of elderly. I know that I have used the word care over and over again in this review but I think it is the best word suited for what I am trying to say, Thanks again for all you do to make her remaining life as pleasant as possible. And as well for making me as comfortable and confident as possible that she is getting excellent care.

Brookdale East Tucson was our first choice, but there weren't any openings at that time. It had everything that other facilities have, but they have a 24/7 schedule wherein they have nurses and doctors to assist you 24/7 if you need it. That’s what I liked about this community. The rooms were nice and spacious, and you had a choice between a studio, a one-bedroom and a salon. The rooms were within the same building, which is really good. The staff was very nice and friendly. The residents seemed very happy. I noticed that they did activities, outings, and people who came in to entertain. The food was really good, too.

Brookdale East Tucson is exactly what we are looking for -- a smaller community, under 50 units, one floor, cozy, comfortable, non-medicinal smelling, not like a nursing home. It’s fairly new, and I really like the staff. I met some of the residents, and they impressed me because there’s nothing wrong with them; they just want to live there, which is something unusual. The price was right where we needed it to be. We’re putting my mom in a smaller studio unit, which is perfect for her because she is almost completely blind. The furnishings, the whole community, the culture, the feel are very cozy, and homey. I was told by my brother that Brookdale has one of the best reputations for assisted living facilities.

The gentleman that was at Sterling House on East Speedway was very nice. He showed us around. He was the one who suggested that we go to the three-level facility that we haven’t visited yet.

When we went to Brookdale East Tucson, the gentleman was very nice and showed us around, but he said, "You two, I would say, you are probably not ready for our facility here." So we left on good terms, and he was the one who suggested that we go to the three-level that we haven't visited yet. I liked his straightforwardness, and that is why I give them a three.

We so appreciate the care and the wonderful employees at Sterling House. All is so fine -- food, activities, management, and more so doubly appreciated since my mom was temporarily away after a fall. She's 29 days away from 91 today (October 2014). Thank you!

Sterling House is a very nice facility. We have a couple of friends that are residents there. The rooms were very nice. They have a very nice dining room and recreation. They have movies, entertainment, exercise classes, and physical therapy.

Sterling House is a caring facility and is close to us. The staff is very caring, friendly, and they get to know my mother-in-law. I have eaten there and the food is wonderful. The rooms are so well-maintained. They have music, bingo, and movies.

Sterling house was smaller. The staff was excellent and I had a nice briefing from the lady that was there. She was tied up when I arrived, so they sat me down gave me some water and offered coffee. The rooms were nice, though it was a bit older.

The people over at Sterling House seemed happy. The rooms were nice. I thought everything was good. The staff was good. They can go inside the patio. They also had a TV room and a little library. For me, it was the location and the security because it's a big, round circle. Everything was safe. People can't come in, people can't go out.
There is a nursing home across the street. It's in a nice, little location. I like the place. We didn't have any bad experience or anything negative.

My mother has lived at Sterling House for several years now. I have many good things to say about this facility. The staff is friendly, helpful, and caring. My mother likes the food there. (They have frequent meetings for the residents to be able to talk to the cooks about their likes and dislikes. The cooks are good about paying attention to the resident's needs and likes.) The facility is beautiful and clean with nice spacious halls and community areas. (And it smells good when you walk in!) They have an activity schedule that changes weekly. It is a nice size facility- not too many residents and not too small. I think they have 40-something residents there. The only thing I would like differently is to have a few more parking places. Overall, my mother and I are both very satisfied with Sterling House.

I enjoyed my visit at the Sterling House. It was very pleasant. It looked like the people were caring and pleasant. The rooms were small but adequate. I know that they had games and crafts, but I didn't had a change see them. However, I thought it was a little more than what my mother needed.

My mother has been living as Sterling House on Speedway in Tucson for three months. Before this, my husband's mother lived here for over two years. We visit twice a week. The facility is clean and well attended. We have found the caregivers to be thoughtful, compassionate, and honest in all ways. This is a happy place to live with many activities and multiple choices. My mother gets a shower twice a week, good meals three times a day, many daily activities to attend, and a safe, private room. She has taken physical therapy at Sterling House which is improving her walk; she spends a great deal of time walking around the facility, stronger and happier. Thanks to all the caregivers and residents at the eastside Sterling House in Tucson.

We went to Sterling House on East Speedway and the facility was really nice. We had lunch there and the food was good. The staff was very nice, but we are not ready for that yet.

Sterling House on East Speedway is a very nice facility. It's a fairly large facility. She got a pretty good size room. The staff are very nice. I have a very good feeling with the people that worked there. They are always available and they keep track things for me. They would always let me know what is going on and call me if they need me for something. The food seems to be soothing her free will. My friend is somebody who needs special kind of food because she is allergic to all milk content products and she manages to get down all her meals three times a day. I think she has adjusted every well and that would be because of the way I think they help her and takes care of her. They seemed to be there to meet her needs very well.
Physical Therapy
This is a fairly new facility, it was clean and had lots of areas or separate rooms for people to gather. I saw a nice pool, a small café or coffee bar in the lobby too. The rooms came in different sizes but the sizes were just adequate.
The staff was really helpful, accommodating and friendly. They facilitated activities for their residents like different exercises, movie nights, virtual exercises and provides transportation as well.
This place is really nice, I can't think of anything more for this place to improve.

Superior physical plant, e.g. cheerful sunny brightly lit wide hallways, physical therapy room/whirlpool on site, services of a geriatric nurse practitioner available if desired, well-designed floor plans, well-staffed professionally with caring compassionate personnel attentive to the residents' needs/care/ and life-enhancing activities. Close cooperation with relatives of residents.

The Sterling House on east speedway could take a bit of common-sense advice. I noticed that when the cleaning staff would make their rounds, they would use the same mop and water for several rooms. I have seen hospitals use large "Swiffer" type wet mops with easily removable rectangular mop cloths, and use only one per room in each ward. That way, they could control the possible spread of microbes on the floor. It would at least be safer if they used a steam mop, in my opinion.
The menu could use a little revamping, as it had the same fare for breakfast whenever I would visit, and the lunch and dinner meals were rather unspectacular as well. I noticed a tiny break room for the help, and though there was a designated smoking area far from the building, I noticed a staff nurse smoking on the patio just outside the dining room door. They have games and other activities, as well as a paid singer who visits regularly, and tours around town when the weather permits. There is a central courtyard with few amenities-no pool or hot tub, just a few chairs and tables. They do have some nice artwork on their walls, and a Wii video game console in the activity room, where they have regular ice-cream socials, and movies. It is not exactly a bad place to live, and I noticed a lot of healthy happy residents, but I have seen better.
