My mother is already living in Koala Care Assisted Living and needs quite a bit of assistance. A doctor owns it, and the price is right. The people care for the patients. The location is close to the family, within two miles from the people who will visit her frequently. She has her own room and bathroom, and has caring caregivers. It is not the cleanest place, but it is not filthy either. They prepare food well. My mother is very happy there and gets a lot of attention. They organize all kinds of things for her. She has therapy, and they take their time. She enjoys the five or six people there. It is a nice, safe community. They are certified and very responsive. You can drop by and visit any time you want. We feel like she is very happy every time we do. There are a lot of good things there. It is not perfect, but it is very nice.

I have visited and referred clients to Koala Care this year. In general, I thought Koala Care was a beautiful new fresh home. The grounds of the facility are very well kept. The common areas of the facility are bright and very clean. The residents' rooms are always clean and fresh. The staff and management of the facility are middle eastern friends who went into business together. The management I feel needs more training in caring for seniors. I think the residents get descent care there if there level of care is not directed. While I was there, I noticed that Koala Care will except anyone but cannot provide the care. For example, I referred Koala Care a client that was an amputee, diabetic, and required the use of an hoyer lift. After Koala Care excepted, the next day they called and said they couldn't care for her. My staff and I went out to educate and train the staff on her care and still they wanted her gone.  Needless to say we moved her the next day and explained to management the importance on carefully evaluating clients for their home, because moving seniors frequently does not benefit them. Overall, Koala Care is a good hone for active seniors and I would only recommend it a specific group of people that would do well there. Seniors that have memory loss that are still mobile will do well there.
