Description

About This Community

Two decades ago, Patricia Will and her family searched for the best memory care community for her mother-in-law. During that search, she discovered a passion for assisted living and Alzheimer’s care. That discovery led to the founding of the first Belmont Village and its dementia-specific programs, with the goal of reaching the highest standards in senior care. Today, the level of assisted living and Alzheimer’s care provided at Belmont Village Scottsdale exemplifies that mission.

Facilities and Amenities

Belmont Village Scottsdale is a 138-unit assisted living community that includes a secured Alzheimer’s wing with 25 private apartments. Each wing of the three-story building is decorated with one of four themes: Western, Elephant, Beach or Arizona. All assisted living units include a private bathroom with shower, closet and storage space, basic cable TV and a small kitchen with a full-size refrigerator and microwave.

Belmont Village Scottsdale residents have full access to the community’s common areas and courtyards, which include an outdoor dining patio, garden terrace, heated swimming pool and high-speed Internet access at the Center for Learning. The community’s Center for Life Enhancement is supervised by a licensed physical therapist who designs customized exercises for each resident in the program. Residents can choose from a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner menu items prepared by experienced chefs in Josephine’s Kitchen.

Healthcare

Belmont Village Scottsdale residents have 24-hour medication support from their on-site nurse, ensuring immediate response to anyone requiring medical attention. The nurse also works closely with families and doctors to develop a personal life plan tailored to each resident’s needs and abilities.

In addition, there are a number of healthcare facilities within a short distance of Belmont Village Scottsdale. Among them, Shea Medical Center is nine minutes away, the Mayo Clinic is a 10-minute drive and Thompson Peak Hospital is 11 minutes from the community. The community’s concierge is available to schedule residents’ transportation to and from medical appointments.

Health Programs

The Mind Body Awareness Club at Belmont Village Scottsdale was designed by a gerontologist to help residents maintain brain health and long-term wellness. The club hosts daily activities in the areas of mental fitness, physical exercise, nutrition, and spiritual and creative thinking. Included in the program, which is available to all residents, is a personal trainer who provides a mental fitness assessment for each new member.

Circle of Friends is an award-winning program available at Belmont Village Scottsdale that focuses on the mental and physical fitness needs of people experiencing mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The program provides a structured schedule for residents with ability-based group activities. These daily sessions can help develop mind and body fitness, self-esteem and confidence. The program received Honorable Mention in 2011 at the George Mason University Health Care Quality Improvement Awards.

Belmont Village Scottsdale also offers a program called Person-Centered Living®, designed for those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Residents in the program live in a separate, secured area of the community and take part in daily workouts that help exercise their minds and memory.

Activities and Events

Belmont Village Scottsdale residents can take their pick from a variety of daily, weekly and monthly activities organized by the community. Frequent group physical activities at the community include water aerobics, Tai chi, Wii bowling, and a Parkinson’s exercise class. On a typical day residents might also be invited to play a board game or work on a jigsaw puzzle with neighbors, then later to a community happy hour or movie night.

Each month, the community organizes social and cultural activities such as wine socials, art classes, comedy shows, guest lectures and local bus excursions. The Belmont Village Scottsdale concierge is available to arrange transportation for shopping trips and group outings. In a typical month, Belmont Village Scottsdale residents might go on an organized excursion to the nearby Frank Lloyd Wright Museum or on a 30-minute drive to the Tempe Center for the Arts to take in a musical.

Everyone I met at Belmont Village Scottsdale was very pleasant, seemed knowledgeable, and very cordial. They greeted everybody. The rooms that I saw were very small, but it had a courtyard view from the inside. They gave us a sandwich and some food to take with me and it was very good. They had a beauty salon, a movie theater, and a couple of different rooms. One area had chairs in it where people could watch TV.

The director at Belmont Village Scottsdale took us on a tour and she greeted everyone that we passed, whether the staff or a resident. Everything there was superb. They were very friendly and helpful. The grounds are well-kept. They had different rooms where residents were doing different activities. While I was there, the residents were watching a documentary video and in another room, some were playing a game.

Belmont Village Scottsdale has very nice people and the lady that I met with who showed me around was very nice and extremely knowledgeable. I didn't care for anything that Belmont had to offer except the nice people. They have the same general things that other places offer. It's just a normal senior place.

Belmont Village Scottsdale was a very nice place, it's just way too expensive. The staff was very pleasant and very nice. I had a good tour and got all my questions answered. The rooms were clean. We looked at a small 1-bedroom and a little, bigger 1-bedroom, and both were very nice. The facility was looking over the mountains. They had a pool and all sorts of stuff. The food looked very good. Some of the residents said that the food was very good.

Belmont Village showed me their amenities. I saw regular full-sized apartments, a large 1-bedroom, and then a smaller one as well. It’s a lovely place; if we could afford, it could be a consideration as well. You get a lot of your money, it’s just based on my mom’s income. Her monthly income is $2100, but they started at $3600 a month.

Belmont Village was very clean. The staff took us on a tour and showed us the different activities that the residents were doing. They had a lot of amenities. It was a very nice facility, but it was pricey.

Belmont was lovely, but it was almost too big. It was like driving up to a very large, fancy hotel. It was lovely. It wasn’t intimate, but it’s gorgeous. It was very busy with people coming and going with buses taking them somewhere. It was an active community, mostly independent living. It wouldn’t have been the right fit for my mother because it was just too much. She’s half blind and can barely speak or walk. It was an active community, mostly independent living. We went a second time and had lunch with my mother. It’s gorgeous.

My mother is new to Belmont Village. The staff is very friendly and helpful. She feels comfortable asking for any help she needs. She is very excited about using physical therapy and is looking forward to using the pool. She is making friends with those who share her interests. She eating in the dining room and conversing with others. I am very pleased about the high quality of the food. My mother lived alone for many years and did very little cooking and eating. Belmont has been a blessing and I look forward to her increased health, activity, friendships and caring people who often see her needs before she does.

Belmont Village Scottsdale was very beautiful. The lobby was beautiful, and there's a music room upstairs that's beautiful. They had a small gym facility where they had supervised activities for the people. There were a lot of things there, and they had a swimming pool. It was nice, but they went up several thousand dollars.

Belmont Village was very nice; the people and the staff were nice too. That one also had apartments that had a full kitchen. It was smaller, and it felt like you are living in an extended stay hotel not like a community, but it was lovely.

My father is at Belmont Village, which is only a couple of miles from our house. We are already familiar with it, and we've been happy with it. The staff has been outstanding. He started off in the Neighborhood -- which is the highest level of care -- and he has been doing so well, so he has been moved to Circle of Friends which is a little bit less care. It's a beautiful place, only a couple years old, and it's decorated beautifully. We joined my father at their restaurant multiple times, and the food has been good. It really is an outstanding place. I highly recommend it. He has been there for about two months now. The care for my father has been really good. Sometimes, it does take some time to get things taken care of, which is why I'm not giving the perfect score, but overall it really is very close to a 5.

I moved my parents to Belmont Village in July 2013. They love the activities and adore the staff. With the kindness and care of the staff my parents adjusted to their new home very quickly. Belmont is a wonderful facility and I cannot imagine a more caring environment.

Belmont Village is a wonderful place for assisted living. My parents were very hesitant about going and they were thrilled once there. My father has since passed but my mother is as happy as can be. There are numerous activities and a very caring staff. I chose between three places and Belmont Village is far superior to any. The staff is beyond amazing.
