I visited Avenir Memory Care for my husband. I was just in the porch; I wasn't allowed to go inside. Well, what I got to see was very positive. It was clean and all of the above. The staff member, she was lovely. And I appreciated her kindness. Everything was special, but I wasn't interested in the memory loss care. Everything appeared to be very well organized and I appreciated all the help. She answered all my questions.

We went to Avenir Memory Care at Scottsdale. The director was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of really good information. There weren't too many people there, but it was very clean and nice. The rooms were good sized and clean. They gave us a list of all the things that they do. It was very quiet and they had the facility completely separated into two areas, one area is more active and the other for the less active ones.

Scottsdale Memory Care is very good. They're very caring and attentive to my husband. The staff is nice and very good. I tasted the food once, and it was just average. They have games, puzzles, catching balloons, music, and different people coming in to sing. The facilities are very nice.

I did visit Scottsdale, and I was a little concerned because they had one of the common areas blocked off, and the window was boarded out; I found out that a resident has thrown a chair through the window. I was disconcerted because if I were there, I would have someone out immediately to replace the window, and they obviously had not. It also concerned me that the resident would be strong and aggressive enough to do that; if you had someone in your facility that was that strong, aggressive, and unhappy, you would have had somebody there watching you. While we were there, we witnessed a woman outside in the quad naked trying to go the bathroom, and I was unhappy about that as well. Some of the residents that should have been attended were unattended. However, the facility was divided into 4 different levels of memory care, and I thought that concept was good. The facility seems clean, and the person who took us through was very lovely and nice. The residents appeared to be comfortable and groomed, so that was good.

We place my mother-in-law in Scottsdale Memory Care, and they have been absolutely amazing. It is just absolutely incredible. We are so pleased that we found this place. I highly recommend it to anybody because they have so many caregivers on the floor, and there's always someone near the patient. They call us and tell us whenever she is having a bad day. They are really wonderful.   We feel secure with them because everything is done by door codes. Only the families get the codes to get in and out the place. There are also cameras everywhere, so they know who is going in and who is going out. There is no way for the patients to get out on their own. They also have a beautiful garden in the middle of the building. We feel blessed that we found it.

Scottsdale Memory Care is a fairly new facility. The place is also clean. The design is laid out fairly, set up in zones. It?s modern if you have Alzheimer?s or Dementia or if it?s extreme. Each area has a kitchen that was open, it always has food in the kitchen counter. They have somebody who is in there all the time knowing that the residents tend to get up and wander. The nurse and case managers were very visual, they make sure I?m comfortable leaving my mother here. I can call anytime to see how she is doing. They have open line with communication. The activity coordinator keeps them constantly busy with activities so it helps them sleep well and be less inclined and worried.
