I will be moving into Caliche Senior Living. The walkthrough and everything was great, it's local, the price is right, and I received three or four referrals to the place. I saw three staff members and they were excellent. I have a large one-bedroom apartment, and they have a studio and two-bedroom as well. They have a great dining room, a theater, a library, and a workout room. They provide three meals a day.

My dad is a resident at this facility and I am very happy we chose Caliche. His room is perfect for his needs and all amenities are easily accessible. The staff is very friendly and helpful towards him. He loves the food, especially the variety of meals. My family is super happy he is in this facility.

My sister is living in Caliche. Recently, she celebrated a monumental birthday and the staff were so helpful in setting up and orchestrating her birthday party. They even set up a Zoom call so we could wish her a happy birthday. That was special since we all live in different states and could not be there. When we were looking for a senior living facility, we visited Caliche. It was the first place we looked at and felt the need to look no more. The staff were all so friendly and knew residents by their first name. We met some residents on the way to look at the apartments. They were very happy at Caliche. We were pleased to see that floor plans varied in style giving us an option to pick our favorite. We also toured the facility to see the amenities. They provided a monthly calendar of events and we noticed there were a variety of choices in and out of the facility. We also had the opportunity to have a meal in the dining room. Staff gave us the choice of several items and were willing to adjust the menu for special requests or needs. For us as a family, we feel Caliche was a good choice and the services they provide for my sister are based on her overall needs. We feel she is in a safe place and is well cared for by a caring and dedicated staff.

My mother spent the last year of her life at Caliche Assisted Living and the family is very pleased with the care and attention she received. The caregivers and administrators were always friendly and understanding. Mother often said that her only complaint was they weren't giving her anything to complain about and she liked to complain. We are thankful that she was so well cared for and comfortable during her 97th-98th year, and so well protected from Covid-19.

Caliche Senior Living is fairly new, so it's really beautiful, and the location is very convenient for me. Everyone there is pretty attentive to my grandmother and they help her out with everything she needs. The food is kind of mediocre. She doesn't like it, but she still eats it because she has to. They provide a lot of activities. We've taken her down to the holiday activities with live music and she enjoys that.

The facility itself is beautiful, and there are a few good and caring people here, but it is severely understaffed. My stepfather was placed in memory "care" (I use the term loosely) here and subsequently neglected. His hand became infected, and when I asked them about it I was told the doctor had been called, that he had not called back, and that that was all they could do, followed by a shoulder shrug. Keep in mind that I live across the country and only happened to be in the area at the time. I took him to the doctor myself (who was alarmed at the seriousness of the infection) and got him an antibiotic, or he would have gotten sepsis and died.
A few weeks later I came back to find a totally different stepfather. He had gone from someone with memory issues, but who could still have a conversation, to your typical nursing home poster boy, complete with glassy eyes, unshaven face with food on it, unable to even talk. He looked like he was drugged. When I asked what was wrong with him I was told, "What do you mean what's wrong? He's just the same as when he came in!" I then asked if they'd been checking his blood sugar and received this response, "He has diabetes???" When I discussed it with the director, his response was, "At least he's clean and safe!", as though that is enough to keep body and soul together.
I went to see my stepfather again two days later, and he pulled me into his bathroom where he indicated he needed water. When I turned on the faucet he immediately thrust his face in it and began rinsing out his mouth. After he did that he could talk to where I could actually understand him, and I realized he was totally parched. I gave him water to drink, then questioned the staff about how much he was getting. I pointed out that his feet were swollen, he had lost a lot of weight, and that I thought his kidneys were failing. They took him to the ER later that day, but of course he passed away shortly after.
This is the kind of "care" you can expect if you leave your loved one at Caliche Casa Grande. As long as they can take care of everything by themselves, they'll probably be fine. If they need the least little bit of care, please, for the sake of your family member, look somewhere else.

Caliche is brand new and has all of their licenses, but I didn’t care for the way the director was running the place. She didn’t return my phone calls. Their double room facilities were a little bigger and clean, but they didn’t appear to have enough staff and they certainly didn’t have enough residents to warrant being open. Overall, I wasn’t impressed with the lady who was running the place; I don’t think she knew what she was doing. They had amenities, and she was very pleased to show them to me, but there was no one there. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving my brother-in-law there. The dining area was beautiful and looked like an average hotel. There were soft chairs and round tables, and the whole building was very pleasant to look at, but that was not what I objected to. It is the only senior center here that has memory care that I know of. The rooms were very clean and more spacious than the one my brother-in-law is in now. They were unfurnished, and as his caretaker, I would have to provide him with furniture, beddings, and towels. It costs more. Where he is, I didn’t have to provide any of that. All I had to do was bring him and his clothes for less money.
