My mom goes to Golden Livingcenter every day for her physical therapy and as far as physical therapy is concerned, they are doing great. The staff is very helpful. She had a room where she could stay. They have a great dining hall and they've just remodeled the kitchen. It seems very good but I haven't eaten there.

Bear's daughter
The care was adequate, but the family had to stayed very involved in the day-to-day attention provided to my father who lived there for almost 8 months. He had moderate to severe Alzheimer's. Once we got to know the CNA's (who truly are the primary care givers), we found it easier to manage his needs. The courtyard was well kept (they even had a "house" dog) who kept the staff, residents, and visitors company. The activities were fairly numerous (chapel, bingo night, art classes), but there wasn't enough for moderate to severe dementia and Alzheimer's residents to do. The families often had to come up with engaging activities. The meals were good but there was never enough staff to assist the residents with eating. So often, I would see residents with food all over themselves because the staff wasn't always available to help. Front and side door security was good in keeping the resident from leaving without prior knowledge, but bed alarms were almost useless due to lack of attention if an alarm went off. Nursing stations were improving around the time of my father's death as the nursing staff was more approachable than before and stayed closer to the patients, especially at night. Great flexibility was allowed for room decor and even for bird feeders outside the residents windows. The nursing home physician was not as available as we needed, especially in monitoring numerous prescriptions for the residents as their needs changed. Again, this is where the family had to stay closely engaged. Overall, this was a good facility for general long term care residents, but not so much for adequate dementia and Alzheimer's care.
